Williamsfield, Manchester, Jamaica—A suspect was shot and killed by police officers during a high-speed chase and shootout on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
Reports indicate that at approximately 5:00 p.m., a police team set up a vehicular checkpoint in Kendal, only for the driver of a white Toyota, Mark X, to evade the checkpoint and head towards Williamsfield.
Another police team made an attempt to intercept the vehicle, resulting in a high-speed chase and shootout. The Mark X eventually collided with a pickup near the Williamsfield train line, causing injury to the driver who then sought cover.
The Mark X came to a stop near a bar close to Hope Village, and two occupants fled the vehicle on foot. A third occupant was found with apparent gunshot wounds.
The injured man was quickly transported to the hospital by the officers, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead by the authorities.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

The specifics of the shooting are still uncertain, but there are unverified reports that the incident involved gunmen on a motorcycle.
After the gunfire ended, two individuals were discovered with gunshot injuries.
The police arrived at the scene and took the wounded to the hospital, where one was declared deceased and the other was admitted for treatment. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Arrest made after firearm confiscated outside Manor Park nightclub.
The St Andrew North Police have pressed charges against an individual for violations of the Firearms Act subsequent to the seizure of a banned weapon and ammunition outside a nightclub in Manor Park, St Andrew, on the morning of Sunday, June 16, 2024.

The police have identified the suspect as Trimaine Raymond, 27, also known as ‘Pepe,’ who resides on Grassquit Lane, Kingston 11.
According to the Constant Spring police, at approximately 3:30 a.m., an off-duty police officer approached Raymond outside a nightclub in the Manor Park vicinity after the individual’s behavior raised the officer’s suspicions.
Upon searching Raymond and a bag in his possession, the officer allegedly discovered a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol equipped with a magazine containing five cartridges.
The police officer proceeded to arrest Raymond and subsequently charged him with the possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition. His court date is pending.
Businessman Facing Charges for Allegedly Holding Taxi Driver at Gunpoint
A 25-year-old businessman was charged by the police after allegedly holding a taxi driver at gunpoint and compelling him to wait while he and his companions set fire to an object concealed in tarpaulin.

According to the police report, on May 1, 2024, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Kamal McDonald hired a taxi and directed the driver to take him and several others to a location in St Catherine.
Upon arrival, the individuals reportedly loaded a tarp-wrapped object into the car’s trunk before disembarking at their destination.
The accused then purportedly brandished a firearm, aimed it at the taxi driver, and instructed him not to move until they had finished burning the item removed from the trunk.
Subsequently, McDonald allegedly instructed the taxi operator to take them back to the original pick-up point.
Following the taxi operator’s report to the police, an investigation was conducted, resulting in McDonald’s apprehension at the airport on June 7, 2024, and his subsequent arrest.
Further findings from a search of McDonald’s cell phones revealed the personal information of individuals residing overseas.
Subsequently, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, McDonald was formally charged with assault at common law, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of identity information. His court date is pending.
