After eluding authorities for over five years following an alleged shooting at police officers in St James, a suspect was apprehended during a visa appointment at an embassy in the Corporate Area. Identified as Jim Warren, also known as ‘Keno,’ 34, from Top Hill, Mount Carey in St James, he faces charges of shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

These charges are related to a shooting incident on the evening of Monday, February 5, 2018.

The police claim that around 6:30 p.m. on that day, while patrolling Rent Land in Mount Carey, St James, Warren opened fire on the officers before fleeing the scene.

On Monday, June 3, 2024, Warren appeared at an embassy in St Andrew to apply for a visa.

Embassy representatives conducted security checks and found Warren was among the men wanted in St James.

After his visa application was denied, the police arrested him and charged him for the incident in 2018.

Warren is awaiting a court date.

On the morning of June 17, 2024, a tragic two-vehicle collision occurred on the Albion main road in Manchester, resulting in the untimely passing of a taxi operator, 38-year-old Dave Woodley from Broadleaf District. Mr. Woodley, who was driving a white Toyota Probox along the Mandeville to Broadleaf/Comfort routes, succumbed to his injuries following the accident.

Dave Woodley died in fatal collision

The other driver, who was operating a Honda Accord, is currently in serious condition. Sergeant Florizel Williams, the head of the Manchester Traffic Division, determined that the collision resulted from driver error.

The incident occurred at approximately 6 a.m. as both vehicles traveled in the same direction from Knockpatrick towards Mandeville. The Probox attempted to overtake the Honda, resulting in a misjudgment of clearance and subsequent collision. Both vehicles lost control, veered off the road, and overturned on the left embankment.

This devastating event has left Mr. Woodley’s three children without a father. Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.
