Detectives in Hanover have launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of a Hanover businessman at his place of business by an unknown assailant on Thursday afternoon, June 13, 2024.
The victim, identified by the police as 43-year-old Robert Williams, also known as ‘Bangie,’ resided in the Caldwell district of Hanover.
According to reports, at around 1 p.m., Williams was seated at the rear of his business establishment at Harding Hall when a lone gunman approached and opened fire, inflicting gunshot wounds.
Upon their arrival, the police found Williams injured and swiftly transported him to the Noel Holmes Hospital in Lucea, where he was later pronounced dead by the authorities.
As of now, the police have not determined a motive for this tragic incident.
Dancehall artist and another man face charges for suspected involvement in lottery scam.
On Friday, June 14, 2024, the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) confirmed the arrest and charging of a well-known dancehall artist known as ‘Big$en,’ along with another suspect, in connection with lottery scamming.

According to authorities, the suspects were identified as Tevin Parker, also known as ‘Big$en,’ aged 29, residing in Stony Hill, St Andrew, and Rajae Stewart, aged 29, residing in Cedar Grove Estate in Portmore, St Catherine.
Parker was apprehended at his Stony Hill residence on Friday, June 14, 2024, during a targeted operation, where law enforcement officers discovered lead lists, bank cards, and other materials associated with lottery scamming.
Parker faces charges of possession of identity information and possession of access devices.
Meanwhile, Stewart was arrested on Wednesday during an operation jointly conducted by MOCA agents and officers from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Specialised Operations Unit at a location in Cedar Grove Estate in Portmore, St Catherine.
Upon searching Stewart’s premises, law enforcement found various items linked to lottery scamming, including multiple technological devices used to defraud individuals overseas.
Stewart has been charged with violations of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act.
The court appearance dates for the accused are pending.
Man Charged with Firearms Offenses in Sandy Bay, Hanover.
A suspect, Kingsley James, a 41-year-old mason, was charged by the police in Sandy Bay, Hanover, for violations of the Firearms Act. This action took place after the authorities seized a firearm and ammunition at his residence in Montpelier, Sandy Bay in Hanover.

James faces charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition. According to the Sandy Bay police, a targeted operation at James’ home on June 14, 2024, resulted in the confiscation of 35 9mm cartridges and one .45 round of ammunition, allegedly discovered in a dresser drawer in a bedroom. Additionally, the police reportedly seized one chrome .45 pistol found in a water drum outside the residence.
The court date for James is pending, and the investigation continues.

Body Found Floating in the Sea in Trelawny
An unidentified male is suspected to have drowned in Falmouth, Trelawny on Friday.
According to the police report, at approximately 2:02 p.m., the decomposing body of the man was discovered floating in the sea near the Falmouth Pier.
Law enforcement officials were promptly notified and the body was recovered from the sea.
The Falmouth police department is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
Jamaican Fugitive Captured by ICE.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials have announced the apprehension of a fugitive wanted in Jamaica for the rape of a minor, a crime that occurred four years ago.

The individual, an illegal migrant, has been in custody since last month. However, ICE only disclosed his arrest on Friday, June 14, 2024.
It has been revealed that the man was admitted to the US by Border Patrol officials in June 2020. At that time, he held non-immigrant visitor status and was authorized to stay for six months.
Following a warrant issued by Jamaican authorities in July 2020 for the alleged rape of a minor, his visa was revoked by the State Department.
Deportation officers detained the man on May 29 in Stamford, Connecticut. He has been issued a notice to appear before an immigration judge and is currently in ICE custody awaiting the outcome of removal proceedings.
