A drive-by attack on Thursday evening, June 13, 2024, in Rose Gardens, Central Kingston left two siblings and a third woman injured. The incident occurred just two days before a planned peace walk, which had the potential to disturb the hard-earned peace in the community dating back to January 2024.

However, Superintendent Beresford Williams, head of the Kingston Central police, remains confident that Thursday’s shooting will not shatter the peace that the community has maintained since the beginning of the year.

The upcoming peace march on Saturday, organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Kingston Central police, YARD Empire, and the international non-governmental organization Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light, is still scheduled to commence at 3:00 p.m. and is aimed at promoting unity within the community, known as Spoilers.

The shooting took place at a premises near the intersection of James and Charles Streets around 8:30 p.m., causing concern among some residents despite Superintendent Williams’ positive outlook.

On Friday, June 14, 2024, the Kingston Central police took action by charging a suspect with violations of the Firearms Act subsequent to the seizure of a Glock pistol and ammunition.

The accused, Andre Bascoe, 33, a security officer residing on Text Lane, Kingston, has been charged with the possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

According to law enforcement reports, at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, a team of officers was conducting a patrol on Price Lane in Kingston when they sighted an individual carrying a dark-colored knapsack. The individual fled upon noticing the officers.

A pursuit ensued, and the suspect purportedly discarded the knapsack on the ground.

The police successfully apprehended the suspect and proceeded to retrieve and search the knapsack.

During the search, officers allegedly discovered the weapon and the ammunition.

The suspect’s scheduled court appearance is pending.

Alleged Stabbing Incident in Spanish Town Leads to Charges

Police in Spanish Town, St Catherine, have pressed charges against two women for wounding with intent, following an altercation that resulted in the complainant sustaining multiple stab wounds on May 29, 2024.

The accused individuals have been identified as Juliet Georgia McKay-Fearon, aged 62, a higgler from Lot Riverside Park, Spanish Town, St Catherine, and Rochelle ‘Rushy’ Michelle Fearon, a customer service representative from Riverside Park in Spanish Town.

According to law enforcement, the dispute unfolded around 10 a.m. on May 29, culminating in the women restraining the complainant and causing several knife wounds.

Prompt assistance from residents ensured the complainant was swiftly transported to the hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.

After a thorough investigation, both women were apprehended. Subsequently, they underwent a question-and-answer session before being formally charged by the police on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Their court appearance is pending.
