The police said the charges stemmed from the seizure of a 9mm pistol. This occurred along the Friendship main road during a traffic stop on April 26, 2024.

Authorities identified the accused as Kenworth Johnson, 27, a laborer from Strawberry District, Friendship in Westmoreland, Jamaica.

Law enforcement said Johnson faces charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

The Whithorn police reported that at about 10:30 p.m., a team of police officers conducted a stop-and-search operation along the Friendship main road.

During the operation, officers signaled the accused, who was driving a motorcycle, to stop. He complied briefly.

Then, he reportedly jumped off the motorcycle and ran. But the police chased and caught him.

During the chase, the police said the accused allegedly removed a black object from his waistband. He then threw it in the bushes.

Law enforcement retrieved the object. It was a black Taurus 9mm pistol loaded with five cartridges.

As a result, the police arrested the suspect. They formally charged him on Thursday, May 1, 2025, after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney. His court appearance date is pending.

Police in Montego Bay, Jamaica, charged a suspect. He allegedly used a rachet knife and stabbed the complainant during a dispute. This occurred on Monday, April 28, 2025.

Law enforcement identified the suspect as Byron Kidd, 21, a laborer from Shoes Arcade, Montego Bay, St James, Jamaica.

A concerned passer-by transported the injured man to the hospital, where the authorities admitted him for treatment.

Hospital officials informed the police about the incident.

Law enforcement launched an investigation and arrested Kidd after he surrendered to the police.

On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the arresting officer charged Kidd after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
