Vehicle Collision Claimed Two lives Over The Weekend

Two people lost their lives over the weekend in separate vehicle collisions in Hanover and Clarendon. A 75-year-old woman died following a crash in Hanover. Additionally, a motorcyclist passed away from injuries sustained when his motorcycle collided with a police service vehicle on Muirhead Avenue in Denbigh, Clarendon.

Vehicle Collision Claimed Two lives Over The Weekend. On Saturday, May 30, tragedy struck the Denbigh community in Clarendon, when a 22-year-old man has lost his life. And a 20-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after the man motorcycle collided with a police service vehicle. This vehicle collision had a devastating outcome for those involved.

Authorities have identified the deceased as Kevin Baker, a welder of Havana Heights, Clarendon, Jamaica.

The police reported that at about 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, Baker, carrying a female pillion, rode a Zamco 200 motorcycle west along Muirhead Avenue in Denbigh, Clarendon. This is another reminder of the impact a vehicle collision can have on families.

Upon reaching a certain section of the roadway, Baker’s motorcycle collided with a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser police vehicle at a checkpoint, resulting in a serious collision involving two vehicles.

Both occupants of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries during the collision.

Good Samaritan passersby helped the victims to the May Pen Hospital, where the authorities pronounced Baker dead. 

Additionally, hospital authorities admitted the 20-year-old pillion rider in serious condition due to injuries from the collision.

The police also noted that neither of the victims was wearing a helmet, highlighting safety concerns in the community where this vehicle collision occurred.

The Traffic Department in May Pen, Clarendon, is actively investigating the accident to understand what happened and ensure accountability.

75-y-o woman dies in Hanover after a vehicle collision

ST. JAMES, Jamaica — It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of a tragic accident on the Copse main road in Hanover on Friday, as another vehicle collision has claimed a life.

A beloved member of the community, 75-year-old Sonia Frater, sadly lost her life following a vehicle collision involving her car.

She was traveling with a man, thought to be her husband, in a Toyota Fortuner around 10:00 a.m. when they accidentally hit a tree.

Both were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, but despite all efforts, Sonia’s injuries proved fatal after the vehicle collision.

Our thoughts are with her loved ones, and we sincerely hope for a swift recovery for the driver after this traumatic accident.
