Police say a teen boy faces multiple charges for allegedly injuring a man in a gun attack and for shooting at a cop in Oracabessa, St. Mary, in June.
According to investigators from the Port Maria Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), the incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. The boy, 17, visited the home of a man with whom he had an ongoing feud.
A disagreement between the men quickly escalated into a physical altercation. During the chaos, the teenager reportedly brandished a firearm and fired shots, hitting the victim in the arm.
An off-duty police officer intervened to defuse the situation. However, the teenager allegedly pointed his firearm at the officer and fired several shots. The officer returned fire.
Then, the teenager reportedly fled the scene in a Toyota Probox after threatening the driver with a gun.
Later, the teenager arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds to the abdomen. The authorities treated and subsequently released him into police custody.
Investigators charged the teenager after a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney.
He faces two counts each of,
- wounding with intent, using a firearm,
- possession of a prohibited weapon,
- unauthorized possession of ammunition,
- shooting with intent,
- using a firearm to commit a felony,
- assault at common law,
- using a firearm to commit a first schedule offense,
Additionally, investigators charged the teen with being part of a criminal organization, and unlawful detention.
His court appearance date is pending.
Police charged a Clarendon man with murder after domino game stabbing
Police in Clarendon charged a construction worker with murder. He allegedly fatally stabbed Errol ‘Blacka’ Nelson, 69, during a domino game on Sunday evening.

The authorities have identified the suspect as Shaun Cotterell, also known as ‘Bobby.’ 50, from Brandon Hill District in Clarendon,
According to the police report, around 2:00 p.m., Cotterell and Nelson were playing dominoes at a local shop.
During the game, a dispute broke out between the men. The disagreement quickly escalated into a physical altercation. In the ensuing melee, Cotterell allegedly used a knife to inflict multiple stab wounds on Nelson before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement officers responded. Upon their arrival, they found Nelson’s lifeless body lying face down on the roadway in a pool of blood.
The officers launched an investigation, processed the scene, and removed the body to the morgue pending a postmortem.
Later on Sunday, Cotterell turned himself in at the Frankfield Police Station. The police later escorted him to the lockups at the May Pen Police Station.
On Monday, June 29, the police reportedly charged Cotterell with murder after he confessed to committing the crime.
Investigators have yet to finalize a court date for Cottrell.
