Key Breakthrough: Two Charged in Contractor’s Murder in Jamaica. Police in Eastern Kingston have made a key breakthrough in the murder case of 54-year-old contractor Kevin Johnson. They have arrested and charged two suspects, an adult male, and a teen girl.
The authorities have identified the accused as Javaughn Brown, 26, from Rollington Town. They also identified a 17-year-old girl from a Red Hills Road address in St Andrew, Jamaica.
But law enforcement has withheld the name of the teenage girl because she is under 18.
The police charged Brown and the girl with multiple felonies. These charges include murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Additionally, the charges include possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
Additionally, the police charged the accused with using a firearm to commit a felony. They are charged with being an accessory before the fact and misprision of felony. Their involvement in a criminal organization and attempting to pervert the course of justice are also charges they face.

According to the allegations, on June 24, 2025, Brown, the teenager, and other accomplices allegedly lured Johnson to Rollington Avenue. Upon his arrival, the culprits reportedly robbed and shot him.
The police responded swiftly and transported Johnson to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
Authorities stated that a swift police investigation led to the key breakthrough and apprehension of Brown and the teen.
The Kingston East police are hoping for further key breakthroughs in the case. They continue to search for other individuals believed to be involved in the incident.

In Other News. Yesterday, the Upper House of Jamaica’s Parliament observed a moment of silence. This was in tribute to the reported 24 babies who died at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital (VJH) in Kingston in recent weeks.
Opposition Senator Lambert Brown called for the observance. He also paid his respects to more than 200 babies. He said that these babies have died at the hospital since 2023.
“I am hearing reports of the tragic deaths of scores of babies at Victoria Jubilee Hospital. I invite us as a Senate to stand in a minute silence. This is to honor those children who have died. We also express condolences to the mothers and families of nearly 200 children who have died at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in the last two years,” said Brown.
