St. Ann Latest Crime Update – Double Murder and Arson. On Wednesday afternoon, June 25, 2025, two men pretended to be passengers. They fatally shot a taxi driver and a male customer. The police confirmed the shooting, stating that it occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. in Mammee Bay, St. Ann.
Meanwhile, Acting Senior Superintendent Rohan Elliott told the media that the police have identified the deceased. But the authorities have withheld the names until they have informed the family members.
The gray Toyota Probox taxi, which operates on the Ocho Rios to St. Ann’s Bay route, departed from Ocho Rios with three male passengers.
At approximately 1:20 p.m., as the vehicle was nearing the Greenwich Acres community, the two men in the back seat requested to exit. After disembarking, they allegedly drew firearms and began shooting at the driver and the front-seat passenger.
After the shooting, the gunmen reportedly escaped in a waiting motor car.
Good Samaritan transported the injured men to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced them dead.
Investigators have yet to prove a motive for the double murder. Detectives assigned to the St. Ann’s Bay Police Department are conducting the investigations.
Dispute leads to house fire in St. Ann, suspect charged.
Police in St. Ann, Jamaica, have charged a 23-year-old St. Ann male suspect with arson. The police alleged that he willfully set fire to the home of another resident. He had a longstanding dispute with this resident.

Law enforcement has identified the accused man as Evan Whiter, who resides in Fort George, St. Ann’s Bay. Detectives charged him after a lengthy investigation. The act of arson took place on April 10, 2024, in his community.
According to reports from the St. Ann’s Bay police, around 8:30 p.m., Whiter went to the complainant’s house and allegedly ignited the fire.
The police and fire department were alerted, and an investigation was launched. During this investigation, it was determined that Whiter was responsible for starting the blaze.
He was taken into custody and later charged after a question-and-answer session with the authorities.
The police said they have yet decide on a court date for Whiter.
