Robbery in St Mary: Carpenter Charged After Gunfight with Police

Two suspects, Daquan Bruce and Randy May, have been charged with robbery and firearm-related felonies in St Catherine. The charges stem from a July 22 incident where a woman was robbed at a bus stop in Greater Portmore. The suspects approached the woman, claimed she resembled a criminal, and demanded her phone while one pointed a firearm at her. Police apprehended both men later that day in Half-Way Tree after the woman identified them. A court appearance date for the accused has not yet been assigned by investigators.

Investigators identified the accused as Ranaldo Lee, or ‘Pops,’ 28, from Middle Street, Ocho Rios, St Ann.

Detectives charged Lee for the robbery in St. Mary on Saturday. The charges include robbery with aggravation, shooting with intent, and assault at common law. They also charged him with possession of a prohibited weapon. Additionally, they charged him with using a firearm to commit a felony and with unauthorized possession of ammunition.

The Port Maria police reported on the Robbery in St. Mary. They stated that at about 3:00 a.m. on March 23, police officers responded to a robbery crime scene in Spring Valley Heights.

Armed men had reportedly held several persons at gunpoint at a business place in the community. They robbed them of an undetermined sum of money, cellular phones, and assorted liquors.

Upon arrival, the police said the victims of the Robbery in St. Mary told them that the robbers had escaped on foot. Their getaway car had crashed into a yard and burst into flames.

The officers received assistance from victims and others. They cordoned off a section of the community. Then, they executed a search operation.

During the search, the cops reportedly came under gunfire. They took evasive actions and returned fire in the direction of their attackers. As a result, a gun battle ensued between the cops and the robbers.

When the shooting ceased, the officers captured Lee and his accomplice and seized one firearm and several rounds of ammunition.

The police said Lee did not suffer any injuries in the gunfight, but his accomplice sustained gunshot wounds.

Law enforcement rushed the injured man to the hospital, but it was too late to save him. Hospital authorities pronounced him dead on arrival

The brave crime fighters placed Lee in custody and formally charged him with the robbery in St. Mary.

His court appearance date is Pending.
