The Kingston Western Police have reported that on Sunday, August 4, 2024, a suspect was fatally shot by members of the Jamaica Defense Force in the Division during an alleged confrontation.
The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Keneal Brown, also known as ‘Dangles,’ from Bread Lane, Kingston 14, and Crooked River, Clarendon.
A law enforcement official stated that around 11 p.m. on the said day, a JDF patrol team in a service vehicle arrived at the intersection of Charles Street and Bread Lane, where they encountered a crowd at the end of the road.
Brown was seen running from the crowd into a nearby property. The soldiers pursued, and it is alleged that Brown fired at them.
The soldiers responded defensively and engaged. After the exchange, Brown was found with gunshot wounds, holding a Taurus 9mm pistol loaded with ten 9mm rounds. Additionally, a Pixton walkie-talkie and other illegal items were retrieved from his possession.
The incident is now under investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
Police Apprehend Suspects at Scene of One Order Gang Member’s Death
Two individuals were apprehended by the police at the location where Zimroy Geddes, a member of the One Order gang, and two associates were killed in a joint police operation on the morning of Sunday, August 4, 2024.

Commander SSP Hopeton Nicholson reported that the men were hesitant to offer a valid explanation for their presence at the scene when Police Commissioner Dr. Kevin Blake and a team of officers visited the site.
Nicholson further stated that the individuals would undergo due process to verify any potential involvement in criminal activities.
Geddes and his associates – Akeel Hayles, 21, from Seaforth, St. Thomas, who was wanted for arson and malicious destruction of property, and Jervis Barrett, 33, from Tryall Heights – were fatally wounded after purportedly engaging the security forces in a gunfight. Unfortunately, one officer sustained injuries during the exchange of gunfire.
The police confirmed the recovery of three firearms during the operation.
Charged Suspect: John Lee Roach Faces Triple Murder Charges in St. James.
Detectives in St. James have officially charged a suspect in the brutal triple murder that occurred on July 9, 2024, in Upper King Street, Montego Bay, St. James.

The accused, identified as 32-year-old John Lee Roach, faces grave charges including three counts of murder, shooting with intent, and illegal possession of a prohibited weapon.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed the identities of the deceased as 17-year-old Jaydon Bennett, 26-year-old Rashaun Williams, and 62-year-old fisherman David West.
Upon responding to the scene of the triple shooting, law enforcement officers encountered intense resistance from the accused and one of his associates in a fierce gun battle. Despite this, the police managed to seize two illegal guns that were left behind by the gunmen.
John Lee Roach ultimately surrendered to the police in Trelawny after being listed as wanted by law enforcement officials. Additionally, he is under investigation for other serious crimes committed in the St. James area.
