Dual Citizen Charged in Major Firearm Trafficking Case. The police have formally charged a suspect related to the seizure of 66 firearms and over 4,000 rounds of ammunition. The troubling incident unfolded at Port Bustamante in Kingston last month.

Investigators identified the suspect as Davian Roberts, 36. He is a truck driver and a dual citizen of Columbus, Georgia, in the US, and Cooreville Gardens in St. Andrew.

On Monday, March 3, 2025, Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division detectives charged Roberts.

Roberts faces charges of trafficking in prohibited weapons and failing to comply with a production order.

Reports show that on February 17, officers from the Jamaica Customs Agency detected anomalies in a shipment. As a result, they contacted FNID investigators.

Upon arrival, FNID agents examined the shipment. They discovered 50 handguns and 16 rifles. They also found 4,737 rounds of assorted ammunition and 83 assorted magazines.

The police launched an investigation, which revealed that Roberts was both the shipper and the intended recipient of the arms.

Three days later, law enforcement targeted and searched premises in Southborough, Portmore, located in St. Catherine, where they arrested Roberts.

On February 25, investigators served Roberts with a signed production order from a judge, mandating that he release his phone’s password.

Roberts, a dual citizen, declined to follow the order, which resulted in him receiving an extra charge. His court date is pending.

On Monday, March 3, 2025, law enforcement arrested two men for posing as members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Authorities reported that a police patrol intercepted the suspects along Barbican Road in St. Andrew. Both men were dressed in police uniforms. They were armed with an imitation gun. They were also traveling in a vehicle equipped with blue flashing lights.

Around 4:15 p.m., traffic officers noticed a Toyota Axio driving recklessly along Barbican Road while using a blue flashing light. The officers became suspicious and ran the vehicle’s registration through the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) system.

Later, they discovered that the vehicle did not belong to the JCF.

As a result, the officers signaled for the driver to stop the vehicle.

Upon stopping, a man exited the vehicle. He wore an outfit resembling a police uniform. The outfit included a Jamaica Constabulary Force peak hat, a black long-sleeve shirt, and a less-lethal belt equipped with a JCF RCB baton. He also had a handcuff pouch and a noticeable bulge at his waist.

The individual claimed to be a police officer working in the Spanish Town area when questioned. Nevertheless, he couldn’t produce any identification. A further search revealed an imitation pistol concealed in his waistband.

Further investigation led to a search of the vehicle and the other occupant.

The police arrested individuals on reasonable suspicion and withheld their identities pending further investigation.
