Ex-cop charged for impersonating a police officer.

A man who was discharged from the Jamaica Constabulary Force nearly a decade ago appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, facing charges of impersonating a police officer.

Khadian Denton is accused of false pretense, false declaration, and impersonating a police officer. The court alleges that on December 5, 2023, Denton visited the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch offices to request the release of a motor vehicle seized by the police.

Denton reportedly identified himself as a police officer stationed at the Hunts Bay Police Station, mentioning that he was on a three-year suspension from the force. However, upon verification, it was discovered that Denton had been discharged from the force in 2014.

During his court appearance on Thursday, December 21, 2023, Denton informed the presiding judge, Her Honour Luciana Jackson, that he did not have legal representation and did not enter a plea.

The judge ordered the accused to provide his fingerprints and adjourned the case until April 16, 2024, allowing Denton time to secure legal representation.
