Information obtained from Observer Online indicates that the unfortunate incident occurred sometime after 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, in the Ebony Vale Community in Spanish Town, Catherine.

The authorities have not disclosed the identities of the mother and son involved.

Law enforcement officials acted promptly and transported the injured man to the hospital.

Man charged with gun attack on Beryllium guards in Grey Ground, Manchester.

MANDEVILLE, MANCHESTER, Jamaica–Authorities from the Mandeville Police Station apprehended and filed charges against a 19-year-old suspect believed to be part of the group that attempted to rob Beryllium security guards on December 11, 2023, in Grey Ground, Manchester.

The law enforcement charged Armani Brown, a sales clerk residing on Hotline Avenue in St. Catherine, with two counts of robbery with aggravation, wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon with intent to injure, possession of a prohibited weapon to cause serious damage to property, and conspiracy to rob.

As per the reports from the Mandeville police station, at approximately 6:40 p.m., the guards encountered gunfire at a business establishment.

The guards retaliated, resulting in injuries to one guard, Brown, and an accomplice. The police swiftly intervened, transporting the injured individuals to the hospital, where Brown’s accomplice succumbed to his injuries. Both the security guard and Brown were admitted for medical care.

Among the seized items was a Winchester .38 firearm along with four .38 rounds of ammunition.

Brown was formally charged on Thursday, December 21, 2023, and is scheduled to appear in court on December 27, 2023.

Fatal Shooting in Retreat, St. Mary

A fatal confrontation occurred in Retreat, St. Mary, as a police officer shot and killed a suspect on the morning of December 22, 2023.

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tylon Spence, a painter from Steer Town, St. Ann.

According to the police report, Spence allegedly attacked a female patron with a firearm during a dispute at a party in Retreat. An off-duty police officer who witnessed the incident intervened by opening fire at Spence and striking him.

Despite patrons rushing Spence to the hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

From the deceased, the police reportedly recovered a .45 Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing five .45 rounds.

In response to this incident, the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau and the Independent Commission of Investigations have initiated a thorough probe.
