Police Charged Kiprich with Promoting Criminal Activity. The Police formally charged Dancehall artiste Kiprich after a question-and-answer session on Monday night, February 10, 2025. Members of the St Catherine North police have been leading the investigation.

Reportedly, the authorities charged the DJ, whose government name is Marlon Plunkett, under section 18A of the Offenses Against the Person Act. This particular section addresses the use of audio, visual, or audiovisual communication to promote criminal activity.

The St. Catherine North police charged Kiprich following thorough questioning. The charges were unexpected.

Law enforcement later granted him station bail.

Police charged Kiprich, but he steadfastly maintained his innocence. He vehemently stated that he was not involved in any gang activity. He was not inciting violence in any form.

“We will challenge the allegations,” said Patrick Peterkin, the attorney representing Kiprich, confidently speaking in an Observer Online interview.

The allegations stated that Kiprich created a dubplate. A dubplate is a custom-made recording used by Dancehall artists to pay tribute to or show support for an individual or group. In this case, the artist allegedly created the dubplate for the infamous One Order gang.

His management team asserts that someone altered the dubplate, adding more inflammatory language than he originally intended.

Police charged Kiprich. Further information indicated that the deejay created the custom-order dubplate for an overseas selector. This followed the death of Othneil “Thickman” Lobban.

Lobban was the alleged leader of the notorious One Order Gang.

According to the Police, Lobban was a key figure in Jamaica’s criminal underworld. He held influence across various regions of the island.

The Police eventually killed Lobban in an alleged shootout in Six Miles in the St Andrew area.

Kiprich’s case will be heard in the St. Catherine parish court on February 21, 2025, and he will have the opportunity to answer the charges.

Kiprich was among several individuals the St Catherine North police listed as persons of interest on Friday, February 7.
