Law enforcement reported that at approximately 12:30 a.m., they conducted an operation in the Tank Lane community. During the operation, they engage Peart as he stands in the doorway of a house.
Peart held a brown paper bag in his left hand. He had a firearm in his right hand. This information is according to the police.
Upon seeing the police, the suspect allegedly pointed the firearm at the officers. In fear for their lives, the police took evasive actions and fired their service weapons, hitting Peart. Then they disarmed him, stated Acting Superintendent of Police for the St. Mary Police Division, Anthony Wallace.

The cops rushed Peart to Port Maria Hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead, Wallace further stated.
