A preliminary report reaching the Jamaican Gazette stated that a police officer got shot and wounded in a confrontation with another man. The police fatally shot the other man. The incident occurred on March 25, 2023, in Kingsvale, Hanover.

The police identified the deceased as Ovado Samuels, o/c “Vado,” of Mount Pleasant in the parish.

The incident reportedly happened minutes after four in the morning.

One Dead Following Hanover Motor Vehicle Crash

According to news reaching Jamaican Gazette, a Fifty-nine-year-old man succumbed to injuries he received during a motor vehicle collision in Hanover on March 25,2023.

The authorities identified the deceased as George Kellier, a laborer of Prospect District, Green Island, Hanover

According to multiple reports, at about 4:10 pm, Kellier was driving his motorcycle along Industry Cove Main Road. Suddenly the driver of a Toyota Voxy motorcar traveling in the opposite direction overtook a traffic lane and collided with Kellier. He, unfortunately, died at the scene of the accident.

Residents summoned the police. They processed the scene and moved the deceased man to the morgue for post-mortem.

A man walking strangely was allegedly found in possession of an illegal gun and ammunition.

A St Catherine Man who attracted the attention of the police while they patrol will appear in the Gun Court for breaches of the Firearms Act. 

According to the police, on March 3, 2023, they were out on patrol along Newlands Road, Portmore, St Cathrine, when their attention was drawn to a man who was acting strangely as they got closer to him. The police said they accosted the man and searched him. During the search, they removed a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 11 cartridges from his waistband. They took the man into custody, where he was subsequently charged.

The police identified the accused as Tyler Golding, 27, unemployed of Newlands, Portmore St Cathrine. 

On Friday, March 24, 2023, Golding appeared in the St. Catherine Parish Court before Senior parish Judge Desiree Alleyne. The Judge bounded Golding over to the Gun Court and remanded him until March 31, 2023.
