A man was tragically shot and killed in Gregory Park, Portmore St Catherine, on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
The authorities identified the deceased as Kevin Chambers, also known as ‘Crocs,’ aged 32, of 52 Stevens Avenue, Compound, Gregory Park, in St Catherine.
According to reports, the incident unfolded sometime before 5:00 p.m. Residents heard gunshots in the vicinity of Mr. Chambers’s home and promptly called the police.
Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Chambers lying motionless on the ground near the entrance of his house, having sustained fatal bullet wounds.
His common-law wife, who appeared to have fainted, was found lying beside him.
Both were swiftly taken to the hospital, where Mr. Chambers was tragically pronounced dead. His common-law wife was examined and later released after regaining consciousness.
The police, as of now, have not established a motive for the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
Investigation Underway Following Fatal Shooting Incident on Kent Ave, St James.
Detectives from the St. James Division are currently conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that tragically resulted in the death of a young woman and left a man injured on Monday night, February 12, 2024.
The incident took place shortly before 9:00 pm on Kent Avenue, near a popular food establishment.
The victim has been identified as Deneisha Samuels, also known as Anna, a 20-year-old woman from Warwicka Hill, Norwood, St. James.
Investigators have identified a person of interest in connection with this homicide: an individual known only by his alias, “Steven,” hailing from Rose Heights, St. James. Steven is believed to be the ex-boyfriend of the deceased.
Steven has been summoned to present himself to the St. James Police for questioning by midday, Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
Reports indicate that Samuels was engaged in a heated argument with her ex-boyfriend, Steven. He allegedly left the location but later returned in a white Toyota Axio motorcar and opened fire at Samuels.
Upon arrival, the early-responding officers from the Barnett Street Police found Ms. Samuels with gunshot wounds to her head and upper body. She was swiftly transported to Cornwall Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Detectives are appealing to anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.

Barracks at the Oracabessa Police Station have been destroyed by fire.
The barracks at the Oracabessa Police Station in St Mary were engulfed in flames and destroyed on Monday evening, February 11, 2024. Fortunately, no police personnel were injured during the fire. Superintendent Bobette Morgan-Simpson, Head of the St Mary Police, informed Observer Online that the blaze has been extinguished, and firefighters are currently conducting cooling down operations. The fire, which started shortly after 7 pm, caused extensive damage to the facility, and its cause is not yet known. Firefighters from the St Mary Fire Department bravely fought to contain the blaze.
A foreign national was among 4 held concerning an illegal gun in Portland.
The Manchioneal police apprehended four individuals, including a foreign national, in connection with the confiscation of a firearm and ammunition at Peng Beach, Manchioneal, Portland, on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
According to law enforcement reports, at approximately 3:40 pm, officers were conducting patrols in the area when they observed a white Suzuki Swift car carrying four men.
Upon noticing the police presence, the driver of the vehicle began behaving suspiciously, prompting the law enforcement team to request a stop.
Subsequently, the occupants and the vehicle were subjected to a search, during which a 9mm Ruger pistol with a magazine containing nine 9mm rounds was discovered in a brown single-strap bag beneath the driver’s seat.
All four individuals were taken into custody pending further investigations, and the vehicle was also seized.
