A Manchester biker died after colliding with another motorcyclist.
Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a collision that occurred in Manchester on the night of Saturday, February 10, 2024. The collision resulted in the tragic death of a biker and left another individual hospitalized in critical condition.
The incident took place on Davey Crescent in Alligator Pond, within the parish, and claimed the life of 41-year-old Kemal Witter, a chef residing in Precious Plain. According to the Alligator Pond police, the collision occurred around 9 p.m. when Witter, operating a Jamco motorcycle, collided with another motorbike traveling in the opposite direction.
Both drivers sustained multiple injuries and were promptly transported to the hospital. Tragically, Witter succumbed to his injuries, while the other driver was admitted in critical condition.
Police slapped Petrojam 3 with additional charges.
KINGSTON, Jamaica–Three men who were reportedly held at the entrance to the Petrojam oil refinery in an alleged plot to kill an employee on November 23, 2023, were each indicted with additional charges on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
The authorities had previously indicted the men with two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
On Thursday, February 8, 2023, the authorities added conspiracy to murder following further investigations conducted by detectives assigned to the Kingston Western Division.
Those charged are Ryan ‘Alfred’ Morrison, age 22, a construction worker from Belvedere, St Andrew; Nicholas ‘Nicka’ Freeman, 29, from Trinidad Road, Kingston, 11; and Ackeem ‘Brown Chops’ Moore, 22, from Rockfort, Kingston 2, and Steer Town, St Ann.
Further investigations by the police indicated that the accused men went to the oil refinery to kill a technician who worked there. They were subsequently slapped with the new charges.
The police charged two airport ramp attendants with attempting to export ganja.
On Thursday, February 8, 2024, the police arrested and charged two ramp attendants with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act after the authorities allegedly busted them with a suitcase containing vegetable matter resembling ganja at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
The police identified the suspects as Artnel Grant, age 30, of a Kingston 5 address, and Christopher Cummings, age 32, of Yallahs, St Thomas.
According to the police report, at about 3 p.m., law enforcement officers, including Jamaica Customs Contraband Enforcement Team members, conducted a joint operation at the car park at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, Jamaica.
During the operation, two men seen sitting inside a car reportedly aroused the officer’s suspicions.
As a result, the officers accosted the men and searched their person and the vehicle.
During the search of the vehicle, the authorities allegedly found 55 pounds of ganja concealed inside a suitcase that was in the trunk of the car.
The officers arrested the men and seized the vehicle and the contraband. The suspects were formally charged on Saturday, February 10, 2024, with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, attempting to export ganja, conspiracy to export ganja, and possession of criminal property.
Their court appearance date is pending.
A 41-year-old man is charged with sexual offenses against a minor.
Tyrone Cooper, also known as ‘Bigga,’ aged 41 and residing in Cudjoes Hill, Point Hill, St Catherine, has been apprehended by law enforcement officers on charges related to sexual offenses against a minor.
Allegedly, Cooper faces two felony charges under the Offenses Against the Person Act, arising from separate incidents of intimate contact with the complainant in 2022.
Following a report to the authorities, an investigation was launched, leading to Cooper’s arrest in the Kitson Town community on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Subsequently, he was formally charged after interrogation.
The case is scheduled to be heard at the St Catherine Parish Court on February 16, 2024.
