Law enforcement authorities have confirmed the successful recapture of a second fugitive who was among the seven prisoners who escaped from the Oracabessa police lock-ups in St. Mary on December 21, 2023.
The recaptured fugitive has been identified as Tray Walker, 24, from Claremont in St. Ann. He was apprehended in St. Catherine for the offenses of larceny of a motor vehicle and malicious destruction of property on Monday, January 15, 2024.
During his time in custody, it was revealed that he had assumed a false identity, and his actual name is Tray Walker, one of the seven prisoners who absconded from the Oracabessa police lock-ups.
Law enforcement officials are continuing their efforts to locate the remaining five escapees.
They include Jahmala Vernon, aged 25, from Boscobel, St. Mary, who was charged with robbery.
Phillip Williams, 22, from Belfield, St. Mary, facing charges of shooting with intent.
Lashawn Davidson, 26, from Jacks River, St. Mary, was charged with shooting with intent.
Nolando Akenson, 21, from Pimento Walk, St. Ann, and Boscobel, St. Mary, charged with robbery.
Gaveen Hurd, 28, from Stony Hill, St. Andrew, and Enfield, St. Mary, was accused of murder.
Linton Bailey, 22, from Jacks River, St. Mary, was the first of the seven escapees to be recaptured. Authorities apprehended him on January 4, 2024, and additional charges were brought against him.
The police emphasize that harboring a fugitive is a criminal offense.

Manchester police listed ‘Romie’ as wanted for attempted murder of ex-girlfriend.
MANCHESTER, Jamaica – Romaine Powell, also known as ‘Romie’ or ‘Biggs’ of Top Hill district, Kendal, Manchester, has been identified as the prime suspect in a violent attack on his ex-girlfriend.
The incident took place on Caledonia Road, Mandeville, in Manchester, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at approximately 10:00 pm. Armed with a machete, Powell allegedly launched a brutal assault on the woman while she was at work, causing severe injuries before fleeing the scene. The victim was promptly transported to the hospital and is currently in serious condition.
The authorities are urgently appealing for Powell to surrender himself to the police. They are also seeking information from the public to aid in their investigations and urge anyone with relevant details to come forward.
