A man from St. Ann is set to receive his sentence on February 13 for the murder of a woman who was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) leaving a bar with him in Runaway Bay, St. Ann, in 2022.
Alromeo Pringle admitted to the killing of 26-year-old Rochelle Glaze, a resident of St. Elizabeth when he appeared in the St. Ann Circuit Court on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
High Court Judge Justice Andrea Pettigrew-Collins has requested both an antecedent report and a social inquiry report to assist in determining the appropriate sentence for the convict.
Pringle, who resides in Mount Ararat, St. Ann, has been held in custody pending sentencing.
According to the allegations, Glaze was last seen leaving a bar in the Runaway Bay area with a man on Sunday, May 22, 2022. Her family reported her missing at the Runaway Bay Police Station four days later.
Following an investigation, the authorities obtained CCTV footage that identified Pringle as the individual seen leaving the bar with Glaze on the day she was last seen alive.
Subsequently, Pringle was detained by the police. Further investigations led to the discovery of Glaze’s decomposed remains in a shallow grave in Cardiff Hall, Runaway Bay.
Pringle was charged with murder after the police concluded that he and Glaze had a dispute, during which he allegedly used a piece of board to strike her multiple times, resulting in her death. It is alleged that he then buried her body on a property with an unfinished house.
A suspect is charged with two counts of murder in Trelawny.
A Trelawny man, identified as 24-year-old Solomon Minto of Wakefield Drive, has been charged with two counts of murder after being involved in a series of violent incidents.
The first incident occurred on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in the community of Water Lane, where 44-year-old Noel Nelson was found with fatal stab wounds. Following this, on the same day at 11:17 p.m. in the community of Water Square, Minto engaged in an altercation that led to the severe injury of 50-year-old Joel Curry, a landscaper from Martha Brae, Falmouth, Trelawny.
Tragically, Curry later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Thursday, February 1. Minto was apprehended and charged after the events, and his court date is currently being finalized.
A third cop is arrested in the Ocho Rios fast-food restaurant murder.
A third police officer has been taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at a fast-food restaurant in Ocho Rios, St Ann, on Saturday, January 27, 2024, as revealed by law enforcement sources.
The officer, part of the Trelawny PD, turned himself into the police in St James on Saturday, February 3, 2024, accompanied by his legal counsel. He is scheduled to be questioned by detectives from St Ann.
Reports indicate that two other officers, both constables from the St James Police Division, were arrested in connection with the incident. They were identified during separate identification parades held on Friday, February 2, 2024, and are currently in custody awaiting formal charges.
A Parish Judge in Trelawny, where the suspects are being held, issued an order on Thursday stating that they should be released by 4 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, if no charges were brought against them, according to attorney Donovan Collins, who represents one of the officers. The other officer is represented by attorney-at-law Michael Hemmings.
“What is deeply concerning is that the individuals have been detained without charge for approximately 168 hours. It is evident that the judge’s order has not been adhered to,” Collins conveyed to The Gleaner on Saturday. He refrained from commenting on the outcome of the identification parades.
As per police sources, one of the five civilians also arrested in connection with the incident was identified during a parade on Friday. All five individuals remained in police custody on Saturday, as confirmed by Collins.
The attorney highlighted that one of the civilians had not undergone an identification parade or been charged with any offense; “thus, his rights are clearly being violated.” “This constitutes a blatant breach of section 5 (1) (a) of the Bail Act of 20223, which grants the police the authority to offer bail in cases where their investigations are incomplete,” expressed Collins. It has been reported that the man, who has not yet been identified, was shot following an altercation involving a group of men near the fast-food restaurant around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
