Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, has been hospitalized. He is currently in “critical but stable condition.” USA TODAY published the troubling news on Sunday, May 3, in a statement from Giuliani’s spokesperson, Ted Goodman.
“Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he is fighting with that same strength now,” Ted Goodman, Giuliani’s spokesperson, told USA TODAY.

Giuliani was one of the lawyers involved in then President Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. These efforts led to criminal charges against Giuliani in two states, as well as a defamation lawsuit filed by election workers in Georgia.
Giuliani has denied any wrongdoing in the criminal cases. Election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss sued Giuliani, ultimately winning a $148 million judgment in 2023 after he falsely claimed that they had stuffed ballot boxes during the 2020 election. The women settled with Giuliani in 2025.
President Trump expressed support for Rudy Giuliani
In a Truth Social post, Trump expressed his support for Giuliani. And like he always do mentioned that the Democrats have treated him badly.
On November 7, 2025, President Donald Trump pardoned Giuliani and other for their attempts to overturn the 2020 election results.
Before his work with Trump in the White House, Giuliani was widely recognized for his leadership during the September 11, 2001, attacks in New York City. For that, he earned the nickname ‘America’s Mayor,’ which underscores his prominent role in recent political history.
Still, after the 2020 election, Giuliani lost his notoriety and credibility among the American. Many of us are still in amazement.
In July 2021, the Washington D.C. Bar Association disbarred Rudy Giuliani from practicing law in that jurisdiction. This decision followed a similar disbarment in New York in June 2021, which was also related to the events surrounding the 2020 election.
Giuliani’s disbarment was a direct result of his extensive efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Authorities accused him of making false statements and promoting unfounded theories of election fraud.
