A brazen mid-day Shooting on Windward Road in Kingston left three injured.
Police have confirmed a shooting on Windward in Kingston on Monday afternoon, February 5, 2024, which resulted in three individuals sustaining gunshot wounds.
The lead detective at the crime scene reported that armed individuals in a vehicle approached the victims and initiated gunfire at approximately 1:35 p.m.
Initial reports indicate that two of the injured individuals, one residing on Brae Street, are in critical condition. The third injured person is said to be from Paradise Street.
Authorities have not determined a motive for the attack.
A St Ann man is charged after cops caught him breaking into a shop
A 54-year-old man named Oneil Graham from Buckfield in Ocho Rios was apprehended by the police after being discovered breaking into a shop at Carib Arcade in Ocho Rios on Sunday, January 4, 2024.
Reports from the Ocho Rios Police indicate that Graham was intercepted by security company members around 5:55 a.m. while in possession of two hammers and various other tools for breaking and entering. Upon further investigation, a broken window was found at the scene.
Subsequently, Graham was taken into custody, charged with shop breaking and larceny, and is currently awaiting a scheduled court date.
DPP will decide the fate of cops accused in the Ocho Rios killing.
Radio Jamaica News has reported that law enforcement authorities intend to request the Director of Public Prosecutions’ guidance on whether to bring criminal charges against the three police officers arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at a Mother’s fast food restaurant on Main Street in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, on January 27, 2024.
The three police officers, along with five civilians, are currently under investigation for the murder of 30-year-old Cajay Simms of Bartles Town, Gayle, St. Mary.
According to a report from Radio Jamaica News, a senior investigator has confirmed that the authorities are assembling a file to be submitted to the DPP for review.
Mr. Simms was tragically gunned down inside the popular fast-food restaurant during a brawl with a group of men on January 27, 2024.
It has been reported that Mr. Simms and his friend were allegedly involved in a dispute with a group of men, which escalated into physical violence.
Allegedly, Mr. Simms used a knife to injure two of the men.
Investigators state that one of the men left the establishment, returned with a firearm, and fatally shot Mr. Simms in the chest.
The individuals fled the scene in a convoy of four vehicles to St. James.
Good Samaritans hurriedly transported Mr. Simms to the hospital, where he was declared deceased.
Authorities apprehended the police officers and civilians subsequent to reviewing CCTV footage inside the restaurant.
Danielle Rowe’s murder case file is incomplete after eight months.
Kayodi Satchell, a 30-year-old dental assistant, has been kept in custody until March 14 after appearing in court at the Home Circuit Court. The prosecution told the court that the case file was incomplete and that they plan to give more information to the defense on the next court date. This led to the scheduling of a new date for further case management.
The young second-grade student at Braeton Primary and Infant School in Portmore, St Catherine, was taken on June 8, 2023, while waiting to be picked up by her mother from school. An eyewitness saw a “young female” leaving a building along Roosevelt Avenue near the National Stadium in St Andrew at about 4:30 p.m. on that day.
The child walked onto the road and into the path of a vehicle. The witness also saw a woman leaving the building “behind the little girl” and walking along Roosevelt Avenue. Another witness, a driver, heard a car horn and felt something touch the left side of his vehicle.
He found the student lying on the ground with blood coming from her neck. He took her to the nearby Bustamante Hospital for Children, but she tragically passed away two days later.
A post-mortem exam determined that her death was caused by a cut to the neck. The police have not yet found a reason for the killing.
