Police fatally wounded an alleged gang member on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. The shooting reportedly occurred along St. Patrick Road in Rockfort, East Kingston, Jamaica.
The authorities identified the deceased as Patrick ‘Tiger’ Thompson, 41, from the Rockfort community.
According to reports, around 5:40 am, the police conducted an operation in search of firearms in the area.
Upon entering a certain premises, the police encountered Thompson, who was allegedly armed.
The police stated that Thompson allegedly pointed his firearm at them. As a result, they open fire, hitting Thompson, who fell to the ground, clutching a shotgun with four cartridges.
The cops swiftly transported Thompson to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), where a doctor pronounced him dead.
Authorities have identified Thompson as a prominent member of the Gaza and Harbor gangs in Rockfort. His past includes a conviction in 2010 for the serious crime of shooting at a police patrol vehicle and causing harm to government property.
After being released from the Tower Street Adult Correctional Center last August, Thompson has drawn police attention for his alleged involvement in a stolen vehicle operation.
Officers have noted that he has been spotted on several occasions on St. Patrick Road, often in the company of young males from the neighborhood and reportedly carrying firearms. It’s essential for the community to stay informed and proactive in making positive changes.
Female police injured during a service vehicle rollover
A policewoman assigned to the Hanover Police division sustained a injury when the service vehicle she was traveling in overturned. The accident occurred on Long Hill main road on Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, the female officer and a male colleague were traveling in the service vehicle when it overturned.
A tire allegedly blew out, causing the driver to lose control, and the vehicle then climbed an embankment before rolling over.
The female officer suffered a cut to her forehead. Responders transported her and the male officer to the hospital for medical examination and treatment.
Following the incident, a wrecker removed the dilapidated vehicle from the scene.
