Police charge ‘Richie Store’ with shooting with intent.

Police arrested and charged a suspect with breaches of the Firearms Act stemming from a shooting incident in which the suspect allegedly shot and injured two people on Nuttall Street in Kingston on Saturday, August 9, 2023.

The police charged Tawrence’ Richie Store’ Stewart, age 49, of Elgin Street, Denham Town, Kingston 1, with two counts of shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

According to the reports from the Denham Town police, at about 7:15 p.m., both complainants were walking along the roadway on Nuttall Street when they heard explosions.

Both victims later felt burning sensations and discovered that they had gotten shot.

Residents alerted the police. The police transported the injured person to the hospital, where the medical staff treated them.

The cops launched an investigation, which led them to arrest Stewart. The police charged Stewart on September 3, 2023.

His court date is pending.

Police urge couriers transporting large sums of cash to be more alert.

The police are warns business operators and members of the public to be more alert when transporting large sums of cash from financial institutions.

The warning has come from Assistant Commissioner Calvin Allen, head of the Area Two Police Headquarters after thieves broke into a contractor’s vehicle in St. Ann on the weekend and stole $1 million.

The cash was left unattended on the passenger seat of the vehicle.

“We want to implore persons conducting large financial transactions to be far more aware of your environment,” ACP Allen said. “Avoid at all costs to leave your vehicle parked with large sums of money in it unattended. Be careful. Engage with the police where you think you may need assistance. We can give you guidance and provide that critical support as you conduct your businesses.”
