A horrific incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon, May 7, 2024, along Hanover’s Great River main road. A 29-year-old pregnant woman, Britanny Gibbs, fell victim to an execution-style killing inside a vehicle. Following the ruthless act, the perpetrators callously abandoned her body and her two-year-old son in the street before fleeing the scene.
Reports from the woman’s relatives revealed that she was five months pregnant at the time of her untimely death. The authorities confirmed the identity of the deceased as Britanny Gibbs, a resident of Woodland District in Hanover.
Eyewitnesses described a white Nissan AD Wagon pulling up near Great River and Woodland and coming to a halt around 1 p.m. Shortly after, the sound of explosions emanated from the vehicle, followed by the woman being forcefully ejected. Moments later, her two-year-old son was placed on the ground beside her before the car swiftly departed.
Concerned residents rushed to the aid of the woman and child, only to discover the tragic fate of the woman. Despite their efforts, it was evident that she had succumbed to a gunshot wound to her head. Miraculously, her two-year-old son emerged unharmed from the ordeal.
The authorities swiftly responded to the distressing scene. The Lucea police processed the area, transported the woman’s body to a funeral home, and ensured the safe care of the child with a relative. The Hanover police confirmed that the cause of the woman’s death was indeed gunshot wounds to the head. They are urging anyone with information about this heinous act to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation through the Lucea Police Station.

ST ANDREW, Jamaica—The Lawrence Tavern police charged a female suspect with wounding with intent after she allegedly used a knife and stabbed her boyfriend several times.
Charged is Havakaye Brown, age 29, of Mount Ogle district, Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew.
According to the police report, at about 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2024, Brown and her boyfriend had a verbal dispute that reportedly turned physical.
During the melee, Brown brought a knife into play, which she allegedly used to stab the man several times.
Citizens assisted the injured man to the hospital, where the authorities admitted him in serious condition.
The police subsequently arrested and charged Brown.
Her court appearance date is pending.

Fatal Accident on PJ Patterson Highway in St Catherine
One individual tragically lost their life, and two others were hospitalized following a vehicle overturn near the Old Harbour exit of the PJ Patterson Highway in St Catherine on Wednesday afternoon, May 15, 2024.
According to Superintendent Dennis Lyon, Divisional Commander for St Catherine’s Fire Brigade, the Old Harbour Fire Station received notification of the crash at 5:19 p.m.
Lyon stated that the truck had flipped into a ditch along the highway, leading to the entrapment of the unidentified deceased individual beneath the vehicle. The Fire Brigade had to wait for a wrecker to assist in extracting the body.
Upon arrival at the scene, relatives of the deceased expressed concerns about the length of time it took for the firefighters to free the individual’s body.
The Old Harbour police are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
