Four individuals were arrested in St Andrew after authorities seized guns and ammunition.

Four suspects, one of whom is a juvenile, have been apprehended by the police following the discovery of an illegal firearm and 15 rounds of ammunition in St Andrew on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

A joint police/military operation led by the St Andrew North police in the Sherbourne Heights community resulted in the confiscation of the firearm.

As the investigation continues, the authorities have withheld the suspects’ identities, and formal charges are pending.

The investigation is being carried out by the Stony Hill police.

Law enforcement authorities have reported that on the night of Wednesday, May 15, 2024, a man lost his life during a supposed altercation with military personnel in Denham Town, West Kingston. An illegal firearm was allegedly confiscated by the military during the incident.

The deceased was identified by police as 28-year-old Romaine King, a resident of Golden Heights, Kingston.

Police reports state that around 9:15 p.m., military officers on patrol in Race Course Lane came upon King and another individual, both clad in hoodies, standing on a pathway.

The soldiers reportedly confronted the men, during which King is said to have drawn a gun and aimed it at them. The soldiers responded defensively and discharged their weapons at King.

A 9mm pistol was retrieved at the location.

The accompanying individual fled the scene.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is currently investigating the incident.

ST ANDREW, Jamaica – On Wednesday night, May 15, 2024, a 73-year-old man was injured in a targeted gun attack on Omara Road, St Andrew. The victim, a senior citizen who works as a carpenter, was shot when a gunman opened fire on him and another individual. Fortunately, the other man escaped unharmed.

The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. as both men were on Omara Road, where they were unexpectedly targeted by an armed assailant on foot. After firing at the victims, the gunman fled the scene. The injured man was promptly transported to the hospital by concerned residents for urgent medical attention.

The authorities have not determined the motive behind the attack. This distressing event underscores the need for continued vigilance and community safety efforts.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with housebreaking and larceny following an incident in his St Andrew community on Friday, May 10, 2024.

The Constant Spring police reported that between 12:30 a.m. and 7 a.m., Kyle Black of Valentine Castle Drive used a ladder to unlawfully enter a residence and stole a 32-inch Samsung smart TV valued at approximately $30,000 and a portable water heater valued at $15,000.

The complaint prompted a police investigation, leading to the discovery of the stolen items in Black’s possession. On Wednesday, May 15, Black was apprehended by the police after being positively identified.

Following his confession, charges were filed against Black. He is currently awaiting his court appearance.
