In St Elizabeth, six Munro College students have been detained by the police under suspicion of burglary and larceny involvement.
News outlets report that the police apprehended the boys, aged between 13 and 16, at a boarding house in the Munro district around 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
Detectives from the Santa Cruz and Malvern police stations, acting on reliable intelligence, conducted a targeted operation at the location and confiscated eight flat-screen televisions.
The authorities suspect that the boys took the items from an adjacent property.
Superintendent Coleridge Minto, the head of the St. Elizabeth Police Division, has verified the arrests.
Mark Smith, the principal of Munro College, has expressed astonishment at the accusations against the students and has confirmed their off-campus boarding status.

According to a report, the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) initiated an inquiry into a violent altercation at the Mandeville Police lock-up in Manchester on the morning of Friday, May 17, 2024, involving both law enforcement officials and detainees.
The disturbance allegedly took place during a routine check of the holding cells.
Unverified reports suggest that an inmate sustained severe injuries and was subsequently transported to the hospital for medical attention.
The head of INDECOM, Hugh Faulkner, stated that his team was dispatched to the lock-up on Friday to gather comprehensive information about the incident.
Faulkner conveyed, “Preliminary information indicates that following the confiscation of a cellphone and allegedly other prohibited items, a physical confrontation ensued between the two parties. An inmate sustained injuries and was subsequently taken to the Mandeville General Hospital for treatment and reportedly transferred to another police facility after that.”
Faulkner highlighted that INDECOM had scrutinized the necessary records at the lock-up and would conduct interviews with all individuals involved in the incident.
The police have not released any information regarding the incident thus far.

The suspect, identified as Kevin Levy, 18, also known as ‘Daunte’ and ‘Suarez,’ of Bray Street in Dunkirk, Kingston, has been formally charged with wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Allegations state that on the afternoon of May 5, Mr. Levy and two other men attacked a man in his yard, opening fire and causing multiple bullet wounds to his upper body before fleeing on foot from the area.
Following an investigation, the police arrested Levy during an operation on Monday, May 13, 2024.
His court appearance date is pending.

MANCHESTER, Jamaica: Police in Manchester have initiated an investigation into the fatal shooting of a man in Cedar Grove, Manchester, which occurred on the night of Thursday, May 16, 2024.
The victim has been identified as Dwayne Danville, also known as ‘Shortie’ or ‘Shortman,’ who was in his 30s.
According to unconfirmed reports, around 8:00 p.m., residents heard loud explosions and subsequently went to investigate. About an hour later, Danville was found with a ratchet knife, suffering from gunshot wounds to his head.
Additional reports suggest that Danville was at home on the phone with a family member when he received another call that led him to leave his apartment in Cedar Grove. Shortly after his departure, he was shot fatally at the entrance of his building.
Danville was declared dead at the hospital.
