Police fatally shot an armed suspect during a confrontation in Davyton, Manchester.

Police Report Sez: On Friday, the police fatally shot a suspect, and an officer narrowly escaped serious injury when a bullet struck his protective vest. The incident occurred during an alleged confrontation in the Farm community near Effortville, Clarendon, Jamaica. Also, Law enforcement officials in the St. Catherine North Police Division have expressed concerns over a rise in sexual offenses involving children. Senior officers have warned that many of the perpetrators are known to the victims.

A man known as ‘Boxer’ was fatally shot by the police in Davyton, Manchester, and a firearm was confiscated at the scene.

MANCHESTER, Jamaica—An individual was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation in Davyton, Manchester, on Saturday morning, May 18, 2024.

The deceased, identified as Andre Knight, also known as ‘Boxer,’ was a 41-year-old construction worker from Davyton in Manchester.

According to Deputy Superintendent Carey Duncan, the head of the Manchester police, the individual confronted the police with a 9mm pistol, prompting the police to respond accordingly.

Duncan stated that the police arrived at the specified premises in Davyton at around 4:30 a.m. armed with a search warrant. Upon breaching the house, they encountered a man armed with a firearm.

The police took action, resulting in the man being shot and injured.

The officers promptly transferred the injured man to the Mandeville Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 9mm pistol was recovered at the scene by the police.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is currently investigating the incident.

The Major Investigations Division has launched an inquiry into the tragic shooting of two men in Berwick district, St Catherine, on the night of May 17, 2024.

The deceased has been identified as Jason Brown, aged 40, a bar operator from Burton district, St Catherine, and David Clarke, also known as ‘Blacks,’ aged 39, a laborer from Berwick district.

According to the police report, both men and a bartender were at Brown’s bar in the Berwick district at approximately 11:20 p.m.

Shortly after the bartender used the bathroom, she reportedly heard alarming sounds. Upon returning, she discovered both men suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Law enforcement officers swiftly responded and transported the injured men to the hospital, where they were tragically pronounced deceased.

The authorities are yet to ascertain the motive behind the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
