Cops Charged Mandela Highway Robber and Murder Suspect. On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, cops in St. Catherine, Jamaica, charged a suspect with the alleged robbery and fatal shooting that occurred along the St. Catherine section of the Mandela Highway on June 11.
Authorities identified the suspect as Nicholas Bhalai, o/c, ‘Coolie Bap,’ 24, a laborer of Ferry, district, in St Catherine, Jamaica.
Cops charged Bhalai with the murder of 34-year-old Dominick Grant, a plumber of Cassava Piece Road in St Andrew. Plus, robbery with aggravation, possession of a prohibited weapon, and illegal possession of ammunition.
According to the Central Village cops, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Grant, accompanied by a relative, met with Bhalai and two other men along Mandela Highway. The men had expressed interest in a 2017 Suzuki motorcycle that Grant was selling.
The three men reportedly brandished handguns upon arrival at the agreed location. They robbed Grant of the motorcycle, which was valued at $500,000.
Then, they opened fire, hitting Grant multiple times.
The cops said Bhalai reportedly fled the scene on the stolen motorcycle, while one accomplice took the relative’s motorcycle. The third suspect escaped on foot.
The police responded, and upon arrival, they transported Grant to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
Detectives launched an investigation and arrested Bhalai during an operation.
On June 30, an eyewitness positively identified Bhalai on a ID parade. The authorities formally charged him on Wednesday, July 2, after an interview conducted in the presence of his attorney.
Law enforcement has yet to decide on a court appearance date for Bhalai.

Cops in St. Andrew, Jamaica, have charged a night watchman for allegedly breaking into a restaurant and stealing alcohol, along with two fans. According to the police, the incident took place on June 23 along Hope Road, Kingston 6.
Cops identified the accused as Leopold Bromley, 76, a resident of Havendale Mews, Kingston 19, St Andrew.
Investigators charged Bromley with housebreaking and larceny.
The police report stated that at approximately 2:30 a.m. on the day of the incident, CCTV captured Bromley entering the restaurant after breaching the security grille.
Then, he allegedly stole five bottles of alcoholic beverages and two metal fans, amounting to $123,400.00 before exiting the property.
The complainant filed a report with the cops, which led to the launch of an investigation.
As a result, the police arrested and charged Bromley. The authorities said his court appearance date is July 29.
If convicted, Bromley will face a prison sentence of up to ten years.
