Trending in Jamaica News: Mother of slain child blocked police from accessing her cell phone. She cites Privacy Rights
It feels like it was just yesterday. When many Jamaicans, including Government Senator, and Councillor for the Flankers Division, Charles Sinclair, were outraged and shocked at the gruesome murder of nine-year-old Gabriel King. The despicable incident happened during the hijacking of a car along Tucker Main road in St. James on Thursday, Jan 13, 2022
The police found the nine-year-old autistic child in the back seat of his mother’s car with his throat slashed. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day.
Jamaicans were adamant that the police find whoever was responsible and bring them to justice.
But the police reported that they have been running into opposition from unlikely places in trying to find the perpetrators of the gruesome murder. For example, just yesterday, November 14, 2022, the police were in the St James Parish Court seeking permission to access the phone of Amoi Leon Issa, the mother of the slain child, and even that is presenting a challenge.
The police need access to Amoi Leon Issa’s cell phone. Because they believe it has pertinent information that can help them identify the perpetrators of the gruesome murder of young Gabriel. But Amoi is putting up a stone wall, citing privacy issues. So this begs the question: What is Amoi hiding?
