Electricity and Water Crisis Protest in St. Elizabeth: Residents Block Road.

Residents of North and South Hampson in St. Elizabeth protested the prolonged lack of electricity and water following Beryl. The protest disrupted the main road. Delroy Slowley, the MP for the area, expressed frustration at the slow response. Jamaica Public Service condemned the aggression towards its workers and warned that such actions could delay restoration efforts.

United Nations Releases US$4 Million Aid for Beryl-Hit Jamaica and Other Caribbean Nations.

The United Nations has allocated $4 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund to aid Jamaica, Grenada, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines post-Hurricane Beryl. Dennis Zulu, UN Resident Coordinator in Jamaica, affirmed support and readiness to deploy resources. Hurricane Beryl caused severe destruction in St. Elizabeth and Manchester, prompting humanitarian efforts and assistance. Tragically, a 20-year-old was swept away in a gully in Havanna, Arnett Gardens, St Andrew.
