Crimes in St. James: Police Seized an Illegal Gun in Anchovy. On Saturday, April 26, 2025, police officers in St. James, Jamaica, arrested a motorist after allegedly discovering an illegal firearm, a 9 mm Browning pistol, in his vehicle.

Crimes in St. James. Authorities reported in a statement released on Sunday that the police had seized the weapon. They did so after stopping and searching the vehicle during a police operation in Anchovy, St. James. The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m.

During the search, the police reportedly found a 9mm Browning pistol. The pistol had a magazine concealed in a bag. They also discovered three 9mm rounds located in the driver’s door.

Crimes in St. James. As a result, the police arrested the driver, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant at the time.

The police withheld the suspect’s name pending further investigation and formal charges.

In another St. James incident, detectives charged a laborer after he allegedly broke into a woman’s home while she slept.

Law enforcement identifies the accused as Alton Jarrett, 26, of Rent Land, Mount Carey, St. James, Jamaica.

According to the police, around 3 a.m. on April 24, 2025, the complainant was awakened by strange noises in her room.

When she opened her eyes, she saw Jarrett, someone she recognized, standing over her. He tried to grab her, but she moved away and raised the alarm.

At that moment, Jarrett jumped through the bedroom window.

The police scheduled Jarrett before the St James Parish Court on May 1, 2025.
