Doctor dies in a tragic Easter Monday motor vehicle accident
Motor Vehicle Accidents Claimed Two Lives In Jamaica. ST. MARY, Jamaica — A motor vehicle accident in Castleton, St. Mary, on Easter Monday has resulted in the death of a doctor. Three others are hospitalized in stable condition.
According to the Castleton police, the deadly motor vehicle accident occurred at about 5:50 a.m. Four doctors were traveling in a blue Honda Fit motor car. Three of them were Nigerians. They were on their way from Kingston to Annotto Bay in St. Mary, Jamaica.
Upon reaching a section of Castleton Main Road, the driver lost control of the vehicle. It plunged over a precipice and landed on the river’s embankment.
As a result, all four passengers suffered injuries.
The police and the fire brigade responded to the scene of the motor vehicle accident. Then, they rush the victims to the Annotto Bay Hospital. At the hospital, the authorities pronounced one person dead.
Law enforcement has identified the deceased as 36-year-old Ubung Etti, a doctor of Annotto Bay in St Mary. Etti was a resident doctor at the Annotto Bay Hospital.
But they have withheld the identities of the injured individuals.
Dr. Glenton Strachan, Senior Medical Officer at Annotto Bay Hospital, spoke to the media. He said that the hospital community is in shock after the deadly motor vehicle accident. They are mourning the loss of their colleague who died in the accident.
Further, Dr. Scott said the hospital has started Grief counseling. It will continue throughout the week. This will help the staff navigate this difficult time.
The doctors who were hospitalized are in stable condition. They have been part of the Obstetrics, General Surgery, and Internal Medicine Departments for the past three to six months. Unfortunately, the doctor who passed away had been with the Internal Medicine Department since March of this year.
Fatal hit-and-run in St. Catherine: 28-year-old victim identified
Similarly, in St. Catherine, Jamaica, police search for the driver of a motorcar. It was involved in a fatal hit-and-run motor vehicle accident along Municipal Boulevard, Greater Portmore. This accident occurred in St. Catherine on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Law enforcement identified the victim as 28-year-old Gavin Blake of Roaring River, Steer Town, in St. Ann, Jamaica.
According to investigators, at about 10:15 p.m., Blake was walking along the roadway when a motorcar struck him.
Surprisingly, the car’s driver did not stop to help the victim.
Road traffic law enforcers responded and transported the victim to the Spanish Town hospital.
Sadly, the hospital medical staff pronounced Blake dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, cops assigned to the Portmore traffic department have launched an investigation into the motor vehicle accident.
