The police say the suspect in the hit-and-run of a policeman in St James is in custody.
He surrendered to the authority on Saturday, in the presence of his attorney, the police high command has reported.
Meanwhile, the critically injured constable remains in the hospital.
The violent crime occurred sometime after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct 4, 2024.
Reportedly, the constable was on duty in the Granville community when he was struck by a white 2016 Toyota Probox.
Superintendent Eron Samuels said the impact of the collision threw the constable over a nearby precipice.
As a result, he sustained multiple injuries.
Reportedly, the driver fled the scene instantly after the collision.
Colleagues rushed the constable to the hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
Police found the white 2016 Toyota Probox in Blackshop, Amity Hall, and identified the owner.
They also revealed that the suspect, Dillon Reid, o/c “Bulby” or “CJ,” of Blackshop, Amity Hall, was the driver.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Brown’s Town: Victim Identified.
ST ANN, Jamaica, Police reported that a motorcyclist died after colliding with a truck in Brown’s Town, St Ann on Friday.
They identified him as Quami Howlet, 20, a laborer of Philadelphia in Brown’s Town.
Police say the collision involved a Hi-rev motorcycle driven by Howlet and a white Forward Isuzu motor truck driven by Leonard Wilson of Minard Heights in Brown’s Town, St Ann.
Reportedly the tragic accident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. on Friday. The motorcyclist allegedly overtook a line of traffic around a corner and collided with the motor truck.
The police and assisted Howlet the to hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead.
Public transport operator, Andrew McBean, called on drivers to be careful while traveling in St Ann, especially on unfamiliar roadways.
According to the Road Safety Unit, as of Friday October 4, 279 people have died on the nation’s roads.
St Ann has accounted for 31 of the 279 fatalities so far in 2024..
