Gangster Shane Bulgin: Fatal Confrontation with Police. According to news reports, on Monday morning, February 24, the security forces fatally wounded alleged gangster Shane Richard Bulgin. He met his unfortunate demise when he challenged the police to a shoot-out in Grange Hill, Westmoreland.
The police reported that alleged gangster Shane Bulgin had an extensive criminal history. His involvement included gangs notorious for contract killings. These gangs also ran extortion rackets targeting businesses. They particularly targeted those owned by Chinese individuals. Armed robberies were also part of his criminal record.
Gangster Shane Bulgin was reportedly a suspect in several violent crimes and illicit activities, including the murder of Everton Johnson, also known as ‘Gaddy Bling.’ Johnson was killed on January 21, 2022, in Fullersfield, Grange Hill, Westmoreland.
Further, Bulgin was also wanted for the murder of Wade ‘Scatta’ Phillips, who was fatally shot on April 4, 2024, at Bloody Bay Beach Park in Negril, Westmoreland.
According to the police, a joint operation involving the military took place on Monday morning. The operation targeted a white one-bedroom board house under a search warrant for prohibited weapons and ammunition.
Upon arrival, the police and military team knocked on the door and identified themselves but received no response.
Gangster Shane Bulgin challenged security forces to a shoot-out
Nonetheless, they heard shuffling sounds from inside the house, prompting them to breach the back door. A woman fled from the structure, and Bulgin reportedly emerged and opened fire on the officers.
Law enforcement returned the fire hitting Bulgin in the upper body, the police reported.
The officer allegedly found Bulgin holding a Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing five rounds.
They transported him to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
According to police sources, gangster Shane Bulgin was a well-known criminal. He often visited Rory Street, Top Geneva, Jerusalem Mountain, and Grange Hill in Westmoreland.
The police often targeted him, due to his involvement in organized crimes, especially with two notorious criminal organizations. These organizations include the Green Leaf Gang, based in Alma, Westmoreland, and the King Valley Gang. The King Valley Gang is led by the now-incarcerated Derval “Lukie” Williams.
During a shoot-out in Negril in July 2024, members of the security forces fatally wounded four gang members. One additional member was shot and injured, while two others surrendered. The police identified Bulgin as one of the getaway drivers who fled the scene.
The sources stated that after gangster Shane Bulgin’s fatal shooting by the police on Monday, tensions in Geneva, Grange Hill increased. Relatives and associates expressed hostility towards the police. They disputed the official account of his death.
Law enforcement authorities anticipate potential protests and retaliatory violence in response.
