Sergeant Patrick Mahoney: Tragic Death of Portmore Police Officer. A policeman who was hospitalized after getting shot and injured at his gate last Thursday in Portmore home has died.

The deceased cop, Sergeant Patrick Mahoney, had been assigned to the St Catherine North Division. He was a son of Lluidas Vale in St Catherine and a resident of Fraser Avenue, also in St Catherine.

There are conflicting reports of exactly how Sergeant Patrick Mahoney died.

But, according to one report, sometime before 10 p.m. on the day of the shooting, a car pulled up at Mahoney’s gate in Portmore.

Moments later, somebody called Mahoney, who responded, suggesting he knew the person.

Reportedly, Mahoney walked to his gate, and a man exited the car and opened gunfire, hitting him in the abdomen and both thighs.

Residents rushed Mahoney to the Spanish Town Hospital, where the authorities admitted him in critical condition.

Additionally, in a desperate bid to save Sergeant Mahoney, the hospital performed emergency surgery.

And the Police Federation had issued an urgent appeal for blood donation for the injured cop.

Sadly, Sergeant Mahoney’s injuries were too severe. He succumbed on Monday, November 11, 2024. We pray his soul rest in perpetual peace.

Meanwhile, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has condemned the cruel killing of a police sergeant in Portmore, St Catherine.

In a release on Monday, the high command said the force has plunged into mourning over the loss of Sergeant Patrick Mahoney. He was shot and injured at his gate in Bridgeport, Portmore, on Thursday, November 7. Regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries on Monday, November 11.

Police Commissioner Dr Kevin Blake has expressed condolences on behalf of the high command to the family. And also to friends, and colleagues of the slain policeman.

He was assigned to the St Catherine North Police Division at the time of his death.

The release said the JCF’s Chaplaincy Branch and Welfare Department are providing support to the family members, friends and colleagues of Sergeant Mahoney.
