Tragedy struck Portland on Thursday afternoon when a man viciously attacked a farmer, inflicting fatal injuries during a domestic dispute. The incident sent shockwaves through the community and left police officers puzzled.
The tragic incident occurred shortly after mid day in the Content district in Hope Bay,Portland.
Initial reports suggest that a male resident of the community attacked the farmer during a domestic dispute, resulting in fatal injuries to the head and upper body.
The police have yet to identity the deceased. But, they have arrested the alleged attacker and are treating the case as a homicide.
Also, detectives have withheld the name of the suspect pending further investigation and possible charge.
This homicide is the most recent case reported by the Portland Police Division. Between January 1 and June 27, Portland has recorder only two homicides, according to the latest crime statistics from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).
Farmer Allegedly Attacked Bus Driver With a Pitchfork During Domestic Dispute
Police in Old Harbor, St Catherine have charged a farmer after he allegedly used a pitchfork and inflicted multiple fatal wounds on a bus driver. The authorities said the chilling incident is the result of a domestic dispute. It occurred on July 1, in Bois Content in Old Harbor, St Catherine, Jamaica.
Investigators have identified the accused as Peter Fable, 36, a resident of Free Marlie, Bois Content, Old Harbor, St. Catherine.
Also, police have identified the victim as Mario Newell, 33, a bus driver from the Joe Brown District, Bois Content.
According to the police, at around 10 p.m. on July 1, Fable approached Newell while holding a pitchfork, telling him he had “something” for him.
Sadly, this domestic dispute escalated when Fable allegedly used the pitchfork to inflict several wounds to Newell’s chest and face. Then he fled the scene on foot.
Law enforcement officers responded and transported Newell to the May Pen Hospital, where a doctor pronounced him deceased.
Later, detectives from the Old Harbor CIB launched an investigation and arrested Fable on suspicion of murder. They formally charged him on July 2 following a question-and-answer session.
Investigators have yet to schedule a court appearance date for the accused.
