Husband killed, wife robbed after checking neighbor’s burning home
Tragic Gun Violence Left Two Dead And One Injured. Police in Clarendon and St Catherine responded to three separate cases of tragic gun violence on Sunday. In Clarendon Police reported that gunmen fatally shot a husband and robbed his wife minutes apart on Sunday.
The robbery and murder unfolded after each spouse went to check on their neighbor’s burning house in Green Meadows, Clarendon.
Law enforcement identified the deceased as Derrick Morgan, o/c ‘Jim,’ a 62-year-old truck driver of Green Meadows.
According to reports, at about 9:20 p.m., Morgan’s wife had just driven into her yard when she observed a neighbor’s house on fire.
She went to investigate, and two men dressed in dark clothing and masks robbed her of her cell phone at gunpoint and ordered her back into her house.
On his way home from a domino game, moments later, Morgan stopped to check the burning house. Sadly, the robbers attacked and shot Morgan multiple times.
The police responded and found Morgan lying face down on the ground. He was bleeding from gunshot wounds to the back of his head and back.
Members of the response team transported him to the May Pen Hospital, where officials pronounced him dead.
The ablaze house’s owner was not present at the time of the incident.
Tragic gun violence left woman injured in Central Village
In Central Village, St Catherine Police are searching for two suspects who allegedly shot and injured a teenage woman on Sunday night.
According to reports, at about 11 p.m., the young woman, 18, was inside a shop in the community. Two men entered the premises and opened gunfire, hitting the woman in her left leg.
Residents assisted the injured woman to the hospital, where she received medical treatment.
The police responded and processed the scene, but they did not prove a motive for the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
Fisherman fall victim to tragic gun violence in Old Harbor Bay
Also, Old Harbor Police in St Catherine investigating the fatal shooting of a fisherman in Old Harbor Bay on Sunday afternoon.
They identified the deceased as 23-year-old Andre Williams, o/c’ Curry Cat,’ of East Bay, Old Harbor Bay.
Reportedly, at about 2:30 p.m., Williams was standing near the market on the fishing beach. Unknown assailants ambushed and shot him repeatedly.
Law enforcement responded and transported him to the Spanish Town Hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead on arrival.
