The acting head of the St. Ann Police has issued a warning that officers who illicitly accepted money from partygoers for escort services during the recent Emancipation and Independence celebrations will face disciplinary measures.

Superintendent Bobbette Morgan-Simpson reported that police patrols escorted groups of up to 15 private vehicles to events in St. Ann without authorization to use police vehicles for such services.

An internal memo obtained by Radio Jamaica News revealed that unauthorized police escorts exacerbated holiday traffic issues in St. Ann.

Superintendent Morgan-Simpson stated that the police would use technology installed in each vehicle to find the officers involved in the misconduct.

Superintendent Morgan-Simpson, when approached by Radio Jamaica News, refrained from commenting on the situation.

Police Commissioner Dr. Kevin Blake also declined to comment, advising that inquiries should be directed to Superintendent Morgan-Simpson or Assistant Commissioner McArthur Sutherland, her area officer.
