Police Officers from the Kingston Central Division have charged three suspects, including a minor with wounding and gun-related charges. The charges are in connection with the shooting of a taxi operator on Duke Street in Kingston on June 23.
The suspects are Raheem Dunningham, 18, of Wildman Street, Kingston; Jayden Wynter, 18, of Rhumbo Lane, Kingston, and a minor.
According to investigators, around 1:30 PM, the taxi driver picked up the three men posing as passengers.
When the driver reached a section on Duke Street, he suddenly heard a loud explosion and felt a burning sensation on the right side of his chest.
As a result, the injured driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a parked car. The three accused then exited the taxi and fled the scene on foot.
Passersby came to the aid of the victim and transported him to the hospital, where the authorities admitted him.
Hospital authorities informed the police of the shooting. And the police launched a probe, which led them to arrest and charge the three suspects.
The cops charged the suspects jointly with possession of a prohibited weapon, wounding with intent, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Investigators have scheduled the accused to appear before the Gun Court on Friday, July 24.

Police officers assigned to the St. Andrew South Division have charged a suspect from Kingston with the theft of a Toyota Fielder motor car from Cortina Avenue in Kingston 13, between Thursday, July 9, and Friday, July 10.
The authorities have identified the suspect as 37-year-old Oniel White from Tower Avenue in Olympic Way, Kingston 11.
White faces charges of larceny of a motor vehicle and malicious injury to property.
According to the allegation, the complainant parked their Toyota Fielder at an address on Cortina Avenue at approximately 9:00 PM on Thursday, July 9.
At around 2:00 AM on Friday, July 10, the complainant noticed that the car no longer occupied the spot where they parked it.
The complainant reported the matter to the police, who launched an investigation and subsequently recovered the vehicle.
On Sunday July 12, police officers from the St. Andrew South Operational Support Team conducted an operation and arrested White.
Later, the police charged White following an interview in the presence of his attorney.
Investigators have yet to determine a court appearance date for White.
