Police Yellow Tape

CLARENDON, Jamaica—Authorities at the May Police Station are currently conducting an inquiry into the events that led to the shooting of four individuals in Curatoe Hill, Clarendon, on the evening of Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

As reported by the police, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the victims, aged 23 to 52, were present at a shop on Slim Lane, Curatoe Hill. It was at this juncture that a white Nissan Tiida pulled up and stopped near the establishment. Allegedly, two armed men emerged from the vehicle and proceeded to open fire in the direction of the four men before making their escape in the waiting car.

In the aftermath of the shooting, one man sustained gunshot injuries to his upper body, while the others suffered injuries to their lower bodies. The police promptly responded to the scene and provided assistance to the injured individuals, transporting them to the hospital where they were admitted for treatment. The condition of one of the victims is reported to be serious.

Law enforcement officials have put forward the theory that the shooting may have been a retaliatory act for the murder of a community member on February 13, 2024. Furthermore, it is believed that a known instigator of violence from the neighboring New Bowens community may have orchestrated the attack.

Law enforcement authorities in Westmoreland have officially confirmed that the primary suspect in the tragic murder of a couple in Content on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, was confronted and neutralized by the police on Wednesday afternoon.

Superintendent Othneil Dobson, Commanding Officer for the division, disclosed that the deceased individual, Tevin Robinson, also known as ‘Shawn Storm,’ was identified as the perpetrator in the killing of 56-year-old Marlene Daley-Hall and Kirk Hall, both of whom were higglers.

Superintendent Dobson detailed that a patrol team encountered Robinson and another individual in the Bluefields community around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Upon exiting their marked service vehicle, the officers instructed the men to remain in place. Despite this, both individuals fled, with Robinson producing a firearm and opening fire on the police.

The police officers took evasive action and returned fire. Robinson continued to flee while discharging his weapon at the officers.

Following the cessation of the exchange, the officers discovered Robinson with gunshot wounds, in possession of a 9mm pistol loaded with two live rounds.

Robinson was swiftly transported to the hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased by the authorities.

Furthermore, Superintendent Dobson emphasized that Mr. Robinson was already facing a murder charge in the Westmoreland Parish Court and was recognized as a “well-known purveyor of violence” within the region.

He urged the citizens of Westmoreland to collaborate with the police in their unwavering endeavors to purge the communities of violent offenders.

News reports indicate that the St. James police have captured three individuals from their list of ten most wanted men in the parish.

These individuals turned themselves in to the authorities on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Authorities had previously issued arrest warrants for these suspects related to shootings in St. James.

Deputy Superintendent Linroy Edwards, who leads the Operations for the St. James Police, mentioned that the police’s anti-crime initiative would closely monitor communities known to harbor gang members.

Police in St. James apprehended two women on Thursday, June 20, 2024, consequent to the confiscation of an illegal firearm under Operation Storm, which was initiated by the authorities on Wednesday.

Reportedly, during a focused joint police/military operation at Bouge Hill, New Ramble, law enforcement seized a Taurus 9mm pistol loaded with five rounds of ammunition.

The two women were detained by the police on reasonable grounds of possessing a prohibited firearm. Their identities have been withheld by the police pending further investigation and potential charges.
