Sean Raby, a former police officer, is dead. Members of the security forces shot and killed the ex-cop on Wednesday evening. He allegedly hijacked a taxi, shot at police officers, and led them on a chase through sections of Kingston.
Authorities state that the JCF dismissed Sean Raby, 34, before he completed his probationary period. The Police High Command cited him for misconduct and behavior considered detrimental to the organization’s good order and reputation.
At approximately 6:20 p.m., Raby got into a taxi heading to downtown Kingston in Jamaica
During the journey, the taxi operator reportedly stopped to pick up a female passenger. Sean Raby objected, sparking an argument between him and the driver.
The situation escalated when the driver noticed that Raby was armed. Fearing for his safety, the taxi operator put the vehicle in neutral, jumped out, and alerted a passing police patrol.
Sean Raby seized control of the taxi and sped away, prompting a chase through the city.

During the chase, he allegedly opened gunfire on the police.
The chase ended dramatically when the vehicle hit a light pole on Camp Road.
Investigators say the police fatally shot Sean Raby when he failed to surrender and engaged the cops in a confrontation.
Law enforcement reportedly recovered one 9mm pistol loaded with nine rounds of ammunition at the scene.
INDECOM has launched has launched an investigation into the incident.
The shooting incident marks the first case involving security forces in June. Up to June 3, 2026, the security forces in Jamaica have fatally 139 individuals.
A deadly shooting in Spanish Town left two dead, and two injured
A deadly shooting in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, on Wednesday night resulted in the deaths of two men and two others, including a woman injured.
The incident occurred around 10:51 p.m. on Corletts Road, where a group of people had gathered. Armed men reportedly invaded the space and opened gunfire.
Investigators have yet to release the identities of the deceased.
Law enforcement officers and concerned residents rushed the victims to the hospital, where two succumbed to their injuries. Hospital authorities admitted the two survivors for treatment.
Detectives from the Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have launched an investigation into the double murder and shooting.
Investigators are appealed to anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to contact the police.
