Two killed in a 45-minute exchange of fire between security forces and gunmen.

Fatal Police Raid: Cops Killed Elbow Gang Leader Corey Rowe. Early Tuesday morning, April 1, 2025, the security forces reportedly fatally wounded a suspect. They believed this suspect was the alleged leader of the Elbow Gang. This gang operates in Central Village, St. Catherine, Jamaica.

It took a combined police and military force approximately 45 minutes to engage in a gun battle with armed individuals who had apparently taken cover in trees and on rooftops. The confrontation resulted in the fatal shooting of two suspects in a part of Rose Heights on the night of June 20, 2024.

Law enforcement reportedly confiscated two firearms during the operation, which was carried out in the Sean Crescent area of Rose Heights at around 9:40 p.m. Deputy Superintendent Linroy Edwards, the operations officer for the St. James Police Division, stated that the joint team encountered a gathering of men in a specific section of the community. Upon sighting the officers, the men allegedly initiated gunfire.

In response, the team exchanged fire with the men, triggering a prolonged gun battle as the individuals continued to shoot at the law enforcement personnel from elevated positions such as rooftops, trees, and nearby properties. The exchange of gunfire was said to be intense and lasted for approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

Following the cessation of the shooting, the police located and seized two firearms. The wounded men were swiftly transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where they were pronounced dead upon arrival. None of the security personnel sustained any injuries during the operation.

A fatal shooting occurred on Thursday, June 20, 2024, targeting a taxi operator in Sligoville, St Catherine.

The victim, identified as Tyrone Bowley, 49 years old and originally from James Mountain District in St Catherine, was tragically attacked while parked along the Jackson main. Reports indicate that he was ambushed by armed individuals as he ventured into the woods to cut a post. After being shot multiple times, he was found on the roadside with severe injuries to his head and upper body.

Law enforcement promptly responded to the incident and rushed Bowley to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. As of now, the Sligoville police have been unable to determine a motive for the violent assault, and the investigation remains ongoing.

A police constable from the marine police unit in Portland, along with two Haitian individuals, have been apprehended by law enforcement in connection with the confiscation of 500 pounds of ganja during an operation in St. Elizabeth on Thursday, June 2024.

The individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of ganja possession, ganja transportation, conspiracy, and other violations of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

According to law enforcement sources, an intelligence-led narcotics operation resulted in the interception of a Toyota Hiace motor truck carrying three individuals.

Upon searching the vehicle, law enforcement discovered 14 knitted bags containing 500 pounds of ganja.

The suspects have been detained, and their identities have been withheld pending further investigation and the filing of formal charges.

A firearm issued by the government to a female constable was stolen from her parked car in Mandeville, Manchester, on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

A police source reported to Loop News that between 12:30 and 12:50 p.m., the constable visited a store for business, leaving her weapon, cash, and other personal belongings locked inside a Toyota Axio.

Upon returning, she discovered the car had been broken into and her service firearm—a Browning 9mm pistol with ammunition—and other items were taken from her handbag.

The Mandeville Police are currently investigating the incident.

The police have filed charges against a British national for violations of the Dangerous Drugs Act in connection with the confiscation of a quantity of cocaine at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James.

Faina Rwenhamo, 25, was formally charged on Thursday, June 20, 2024, with possession of cocaine, drug trafficking, attempted cocaine export, and participation in a cocaine export conspiracy.

Ms. Rwenhamo is set to appear before the St. James Parish Court on June 26 to address the allegations.

According to reports, on Sunday, June 16, 2024, just prior to 4 o’clock, Ms. Rwenhamo tried to board a flight bound for the United Kingdom, prompting authorities to conduct a search of her belongings.

During the search, law enforcement officers purportedly discovered 1.6 kilograms of cocaine concealed in concealed compartments inside wooden craft items.

The estimated street value of the seized drug amounts to $7.5 million.

Subsequently, the police detained her and placed her in custody.
