Fatal Accident in Trelawny Claims Life of Bank Teller and Leaves Several Injured.

A fatal four-vehicle crash occurred in Trelawny on Friday, June 21, 2024, resulting in the death of one individual and multiple injuries.

The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Asean Murphy, a bank teller residing on Ritchie Avenue, Kingston 8.

Reports indicate that the tragic incident took place at approximately 2:50 pm along the Carey Park main road in Falmouth.

Preliminary police investigations suggest that Murphy lost control of his vehicle while driving along Carey Park Main Road in Falmouth, leading to a collision with a truck and subsequently involving two other vehicles.

Subsequently, the police responded to the scene and provided assistance to the injured individuals, who were subsequently transported to the hospital. Regrettably, Murphy was pronounced dead by the authorities at the medical facility.

The Falmouth police department is currently conducting an investigation into the matter.

According to recent news reports, three out of four suspects, including an alleged gangster who the police implicated in a significant gun find at a warehouse in Kingston in March 2022, were acquitted of gun charges by a judge in the Gun Court on Friday, June 21, 2024.

The three accused individuals were found not guilty after their legal representatives successfully argued that the prosecution failed to provide any evidence to support the charges against their clients in the Gun Court.

The alleged gangster, Godfrey Martin, also known as ‘Rev’, a so-called businessman from St. Elizabeth, who is said to be a high-ranking member of the New York-based 90’s Gang, was cleared of charges relating to the illegal importation of firearms and ammunition, as well as conspiracy to import firearms and ammunition.

Sherilyn McLean, the girlfriend of the 51-year-old businessman, and American national Fitzroy Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia, were also acquitted on similar charges.

However, the court ruled that the fourth accused, Jermaine Baker, a chef from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has a case to answer.

Another individual implicated in the matter, 42-year-old Dervan Brown, a construction worker and former resident of Bronx, New York, was killed in November 2023.

The authorities had brought charges against the four suspects following the discovery of illegal guns and ammunition on March 4, 2022. The police seized three rifles, 18 handguns, and 2,216 rounds of ammunition after customs officers detected a suspicious package and called in the Contraband Enforcement Team.

Rev was apprehended on August 7, 2023, at a popular party in St. Ann, while McLean was arrested and charged on September 13.

Johnson, who investigators claim had entered into an arrangement and allegedly paid for five of the illegal guns, was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport upon his arrival on the island on November 3, 2023.

Jacquline Samuels-Brown and Everton Dewar served as legal counsel for Martin, Kemar Robinson represented Johnson, and Vincent Wellesley represented McLean. Attorney-at-law Donahue Martin appeared for Baker.
