Tragic News from St Andrew Central Police Division
It is with deep sorrow that we report the loss of two individuals who were shot in the St Andrew Central Police Division on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
One of the victims was 17-year-old Rushawn Rowe, affectionately known as ‘Papa’, a student at Gaynstead High School and a resident of Harriman Close, Kingston 6.
The identity of the other deceased victim has not yet been disclosed.
Furthermore, the two other individuals who were injured in this appalling incident remain hospitalized.
According to the police report, the victims were traveling on motorcycles along a roadway in the division when they were targeted by assailants who opened fire on them.
The victims were promptly transported to the hospital, where they were admitted for urgent medical care.
At present, the authorities have been unable to determine a motive for this senseless act of violence.

Father in Custody After the Discovery of his 8-Year-Old Son’s Body in Tank.
The father of an eight-year-old boy, whose body was discovered in a tank on Tuesday morning in Barnstable, St. Ann, has been detained.
Ayequan Currie, a student at Madras All-Age School, was reported missing by his father after a search at home on Monday night, April 22, 2024.
The search continued on Tuesday morning, prompting alerts to the police and fire department.
The body of the second-grade student was later retrieved from the tank.
Sashana Bryan-Campbell, the principal of Madras All Age School, lamented the loss of Ayequan and described him as a fun-loving child.
She expressed to Radio Jamaica News that Ayequan’s death has cast a shadow of sorrow over the school community, noting that he will be profoundly missed.
Seven individuals suspected of engaging in lottery scamming were apprehended in St. James.
A man was taken into custody on Monday after allegedly withdrawing over US$800 from an ATM at the Sangster International Airport in St James. He is one of seven men currently detained on suspicion of involvement in lottery scamming.
Later, in a separate operation conducted by the Lottery Scam Taskforce and the Area Two Operational Support Team, the others were reportedly apprehended at an unfinished house in Adelphi, St James.
The individuals’ identities have not been disclosed.
During the operation, law enforcement seized eleven cell phones and 35 letter-sized sheets of paper containing names, addresses, and telephone numbers of individuals residing overseas, as reported by The Gleaner.
Sources revealed that the cell phones contained numerous lead lists and were used to call numerous overseas phone numbers.
Law enforcement was alerted after observing a 36-year-old hotel worker behaving suspiciously while withdrawing cash from the ATM.
Upon further investigation, responding officers allegedly discovered a gold Green Dot Bank Visa debit card in the individual’s possession, bearing the name of an overseas resident, along with US$820.
During the second operation, six men were reportedly observed conversing on cell phones while holding letter-sized papers in the unfinished building.
Investigation Launched Into Large-Scale Theft at Car Dealership on Hagley Park Road.
Police have initiated a manhunt for an organized crime group responsible for raiding a car dealership on Hagley Park Road in St. Andrew, where they made off with multiple vehicles worth millions of dollars on Monday night.
Most of the stolen vehicles have been retrieved by the authorities.
Radio Jamaica News reported that eight vehicles, estimated at nearly $20 million, were taken from Minute Car Rental at 75 Hagley Park Road.
Around 8:30 p.m., a group of men forced entry into the business premises, stealing $60,000 in cash, three laptops, three cell phones, two desktop monitors, and keys to various vehicles parked on-site.
The culprits then absconded with eight vehicles, including two Toyota Voxys, one Honda Stepwagon, a Nissan Serena, a Honda Accord, a Toyota Vitz, a Honda Grace, and a Kia Sportage, the total value of which exceeded $18 million.
The theft was discovered by the company operators on the morning of Tuesday, April 23, 2024, who immediately notified the police.
A subsequent coordinated search effort led to the recovery of seven vehicles through the use of a tracking system.
Two vehicles were located in Portmore, while the rest were found in Harbour View, Mountain View Avenue, and Olympic Way.
The Honda Accord remains unaccounted for.
