Montego Bay, Jamaica–The police indicted a St James suspect with several breaches of The Sexual Offences Act after he allegedly dragged a minor into a house and attempted to sexually assault her.
The authorities identified the suspect as Marlon Samuels, age 19. He is charged with forcible abduction, attempted rape, and sexual touching of a child.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at about 4 p.m. On her way home from a nearby community shop, the child saw Samuels at a house.
Samuels reportedly told her to come to the house, but she refused and continued walking.
Samuels allegedly grabbed her by her hands, pulled her inside the house, locked the door, and started to fondle her.
The child reportedly bit Samuels on his hand, and he released his grip on her, and the child managed to escape and ran home, the police said.
She reported the incident to her mother. Then, the mother took her to the police’s Centre of Investigation for Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).
The police subsequently arrested Samuels. The police later charged Samuels after the complainant pointed him out on an identification parade on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
His court appearance date is pending.
Clarendon man mobbed after using fake gun in robbery charged
A man was rescued by the police from an angry mob after allegedly holding up and robbing three people with an imitation firearm in the May Pen community on January 17, 2024. He has since been charged.
The suspect has been identified as Ronald Watson, known as ‘Ronaldo,’ aged 33, a laborer of Woodside District in Clarendon.
Watson faces charges of three counts of robbery with aggravation, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.
Notably, Watson is already facing court proceedings relating to a previous robbery, having been charged on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
As per the police report, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Watson allegedly brandished a black object resembling a handgun and robbed three individuals along Church Street in May Pen, taking personal items, including four cell phones and a total of $150.
One of the victims realized that the object was not a real firearm and raised an alarm, prompting the victims to chase Watson and seek the assistance of passersby. The mob eventually cornered Watson, leading to his apprehension. During a search, the phones were discovered in his possession.
The police responded to the scene and intervened, rescuing Watson from the angry mob. He was subsequently taken into custody, where he confessed to the crime during an interview in the presence of a Justice of the Peace. Watson’s court date is pending.
Investigation Launched into Murder of Bog Walk Resident
The Bog Walk Gum Shoes have launched an investigation into the brutal slaying of a resident on Friday afternoon, January 26, 2024. The deceased has been identified as Oniel Brown, also known as ‘Ole Dawg,’ aged 34, a late laborer of Pineapple Lane in Bog Walk, St. Catherine.
According to reports, at approximately 2 p.m., Brown was walking along Church Road when a car pulled up beside him. The occupants of the vehicle reportedly opened fire, fatally hitting him. Brown managed to run a short distance before collapsing and succumbing to his injuries.
Authorities have yet to establish a motive for the killing, and the Bog Walk police are actively investigating the case.
A St. James man was held with a gun after driving a car without license plates.
A suspect was apprehended by law enforcement officers in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Thursday night, January 25, 2024, after the discovery of a firearm and two empty magazines in the suspect’s possession.
The identity of the suspect is being withheld by the authorities pending further investigations.
As per the Montego Bay authorities, around 7:30 p.m., a police team was patrolling along the Farm Heights Main Road when they intercepted a white Nissan AD wagon motor car with no registration plate operating on the public road.
During a search of the driver, the officers found and removed one Taurus G3 pistol with an empty magazine from his waistband. Another magazine was also discovered during a search of the car.
Subsequently, the police took the suspect into custody pending further investigation.
Tragic Accident in Westmoreland: One Dead, Seven Injured
A devastating incident occurred in Holly Hill, Darliston, Westmoreland, on Friday morning, January 26, 2024, resulting in the death of a male vendor and injuries to seven others, including a child.
The victims were aboard an Isuzu truck heading to the Savanna-La-Mar Market when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash.
The injured individuals were promptly taken to the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital for treatment. The authorities are in the process of conducting a thorough investigation into the tragic accident.
