A nine-year-old boy was fatally shot and his mother injured in May Pen.

A tragic incident occurred in May Pen, Clarendon, on the night of Friday, January 26, 2024, when a lone assailant fatally shot a nine-year-old boy and injured his mother at a community shop. The young victim has been identified as Shamar Walker, residing on Church Street in May Pen. The mother, also a victim of the attack, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Reports indicate that around 7:45 p.m., a man entered the shop where a group of people were gathered, operated by the now-deceased mother. After approximately 30 minutes, the assailant opened fire, tragically hitting the child and his mother. Despite the efforts to save him, Shamar was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, while his mother fought for her life in serious condition.

It has been revealed that the woman had reported a robbery at her premises just three days prior, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Authorities are actively investigating any potential connection between these two harrowing incidents.

Five individuals, including a woman, sustained gunshot wounds during a violent attack at a gathering on Barracks Road in Savanna-La-Mar, Westmoreland. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, January 27, 2024.

According to reports, the appalling act transpired around 1:00 a.m., disrupting the festivities as two assailants arrived at the venue on a motorcycle and opened fire. In the chaos that ensued, partygoers fled to safety.

Subsequently, five individuals, aged between 27 and 32, were found with gunshot injuries and were promptly transported to Savanna-La-Mar Hospital for urgent medical attention. Additionally, the gunmen targeted a black motorcar, causing damage to the windshield and other parts, although the occupants managed to escape unharmed.

The Savanna-la-Mar Police have launched an investigation into this distressing incident.

Law enforcement authorities in St. Catherine have arrested and charged a car washer after he allegedly abducted his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint.

The suspect, identified as Nigel Pusey, aged 28, of Red Pond district, Frazer’s Content in St. Catherine, is accused of a series of disturbing actions. On January 19, 2024, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Pusey went to the woman’s home on St. John’s Road in St. Catherine while she was away, where he allegedly smashed her windows and disconnected her light wires.

Subsequently, he is said to have launched an attack on the complainant as she was returning home from work, reportedly brandishing a firearm. He then compelled her to enter his vehicle.

Pusey then allegedly drove to a petrol station to refuel, where the woman managed to escape and promptly reported the incident to the authorities.

Following these events, the police arrested and formally charged Pusey on Friday, January 26, 2024. He faces charges related to possession of a prohibited weapon, assault at common law, abduction, and malicious destruction of property. Pusey is scheduled to appear before the St. Catherine Parish Court on February 2.

Police in St. Ann have initiated an inquiry into the fatal stabbing of 31-year-old vendor Craig Campbell in Borobridge district, St. Ann.

Campbell’s body was discovered with stab wounds to his upper body at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024.

According to reports, Campbell was walking home with his girlfriend around 9 p.m. on Thursday. At some point, they went their separate ways.

After the girlfriend reached home and retired to bed, Campbell did not return within a reasonable time. Multiple calls to his phone went unanswered, leading her to raise the alarm.

A search followed, culminating in the discovery of Campbell’s body in the bushes on a dirt path near his residence in the community.

Authorities have yet to ascertain a motive for Campbell’s demise.
