MANCHESTER, Jamaica – The police have arrested and charged a mechanic with murder, robbery with aggravation, and illegally possessing a firearm. The charges stem from an incident at his place of business in Porus, Manchester, on December 9, 2022.
The accused man is 22-year-old Ajay Frazer of Denbigh Crescent, Clarendon.

The police charged Frazer with the murder of 39-year-old Jin Xian Ye, o/c ‘Leo,’ a businessman of Porus in the parish. Reports from the Manchester police are that at about 7:30 pm, December 9, 2022, Frazer was with a group of men who robbed Xian Ye and then opened gunfire, killing him.
Kingston baker shot dead at home on Sunday.
The police are probing the death of a Kingston baker at his home this morning, Sunday, February 12, 2023.
The deceased man’s name was 43-year-old Horatio Sayles of Lincoln Road, Kingston 5.
According to reports, at about 5:50 am, Sunday, February 12, 2023, residents living at the same address said they heard loud explosions sounding like gunshots and summoned the police.
On arrival at the address, law enforcement officers found Sayles suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the face and upper body. They took him to the Kingston Public Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Upon processing the crime scene, the police found five spent shells.
The police are yet to establish a motive for the killing. And no suspects have been identified.
Mother and daughter found burnt to death in St Ann’s house.
ST ANN, Jamaica –The St Ann police reported that a mother believed to be in her mid-20s, and her daughter, believed to be under ten years old, were found burnt to death in a house in Cardiff Hall, Runaway Bay, in St Ann early Sunday, February 2023. today.
According to the police, the incident took place sometime after midnight. However, they have not released the victims’ names because the relatives are not appropriately informed.
Man charged in US$2m drug seizure released on bail.
A man facing charges concerning a US$2 million drug bust last December was granted bail.
Dwayne Dewar, 33, was granted bail with conditions last week on humanitarian grounds. Because of severe medical complications, according to his attorney Odane Marston.
The judge ordered him to report to the police three times per week.
Dewar is awaiting trial for possession of, dealing in, taking steps to export, and conspiracy to export ganja.
The police arrested him on December 17, 2022, during a police-military operation along the Bull Bay main road in St Andrew.
The police report that at about 10:45 pm, they stopped an Isuzu motor truck and carried out a vehicle search. And during the vehicle search, the police found compressed vegetable matter resembling ganja in the back of the Isuzu. The estimated street value of the contraband is approximately US$2 million.
Dewar has denied the allegation, his attorney said.
