Road Tragedy. A police constable is among two people who lost their lives in a motor vehicle accident along the Seaforth main road in St Thomas on Tuesday night.
The authorities identified the victims as Keron Kellyman, 25, a constable attached to the Highway Patrol Division, and 31-year-old electrician Dwight Robinson of White Hall district.
According to reports, at about 10:45 p.m., Kellyman was driving a Toyota Isis from Morant Bay towards Seaforth. And a Honda Accord was traveling in the opposite direction.
Upon reaching the vicinity of the Wyatt Housing Scheme, the driver of the Honda allegedly swerved to avoid a pothole. As a result, he crossed the path of the constable’s vehicle.
Tragedy struck. The two vehicles collided head-on, causing the policeman’s car to overturn and land in a gully along the roadway.
Unfortunately, Kellyman sustained severe facial injuries. Hospital authorities pronounced him deceased upon arrival.
Meanwhile, Robinson suffered a massive laceration extending from his forehead to his chin and right ear. Hospital authorities also pronounced him deceased.
Four other persons sustained serious injuries during the collision—two occupants of the Toyota Isis and two from the Honda. Hospital officials admitted them for treatment.
The police stated that the injured individuals are in serious but stable condition.
Tragedy: Suspect led cops to the dead body of missing cop Sylvester Reid.
New information has emerged regarding the disappearance of police officer Sylvester Reid. Investigators believed a body they have discovered in bushes along a dirt track off Parnassus Main Road in York Town, Clarendon belonged to Reid
Law enforcement discovered the body late Tuesday night. A suspect in custody reportedly led them to the location and identified the body.
The victim is thought to be 42-year-old Reid, a police officer and businessman from Evans Heights, May Pen. He who was reported missing on April 15.
According to the police, at about 11:30 p.m. on April 28, investigators reacted to information received from the suspect. They went to a footpath in the area, where they found a decomposing body hidden in the bushes.
Investigators said the body was lying on its back with bare feet. It was clad in yellow shorts and appeared to have burn marks on the upper body.
The suspect allegedly informed investigators that the body belonged to Reid, with whom he had lived.
Police sources confirmed that forensic personnel have processed the scene and removed the body to the May Pen Hospital. A postmortem to verify the cause of death is pending.
Reportedly, nobody has seen Reid since approximately 8:00 p.m. on April 14 at the Lifeline Security Training Institute. All efforts to contact him since were unsuccessful.
